Why you should use Paypal for shipping

Hope this will help you guys and girls with your trades and shipping. For those of you who know me, know that I work for the post office. So, I hope this helps.

Just finished a trade with DKrill...I mailed my cards in a padded envelope using paypal shipping. Very simple to use...on one sheet it prints out the label and shipping invoice to place inside the envelope. The shipping label is three and half by 5 inches and comes with a delivery confirmation bar code. And...for up to three ounces with delivery confirmation, the total cost is $1.69!
Delivery Confirmation is very hot at work and all pieces are scanned and tracked. I mailed my cards and they were delivered within two days.
DKrill mailed using a padded envelope and stamps. He placed $2.07, which is the price if you go to www.usps.com. He mailed on March 6 and didn't arrive until ten days later, March 16.

For those of you who think they have to have a large amount in your payapal account...Nope...If you want you keep your balance at ZERO and just transfer funds in from your bank (CU) account or from a credit card.

So, by using Paypal, you save about $0.40 a package, tracking and confirmation.

I have had problems with PayPal sent packages. Just this week I have received two packages where the sender used PayPal shipping and both were marked postage due.

That is the senders fault. They need to put in the correct weight of the package when the do the postage. If you only sending say 3 cards they will go for $1.69, but if it's over 3 oz it cost more. You need to have a scale.

I sometimes use a print label feature off of ebay when trading on the bench to get a reduced rate for shipping, however I wonder if I am getting charged for the sale I used to print the label from. I just started that so I am not sure what the result will be. I like this better, thanks Jim

This is true. And ALWAYS round up. If you're shipping 3.6 oz package round up to 4. Even if I have a 3.4 oz I usually round up. Why not pay the extra 20 cents or whatever to make sure it's not going to be sent back in those situations is what I think.

printing shipping labels off eBay and getting a portable scale for $20 at walmart what the best investment ever. I don't have to wait in the line at the post office and I just drop my stuff off and leave. Not too mention I don't have to write on the package anymore and I have very messy handwriting.

Yeah the way it works with the post office is that shipping for say 4 ounces is "up to" 4 ounces, not "rounded to" 4 ounces. If something is 4.1 ounces, then you need to use the 5 ounce shipping rate. I have a postal scale and I'm paranoid, so even if something is exactly 4.0 ounces, I'll just pay for 5 ounces in case the scale at the PO is slightly different from mine.
