Not surprising as I think he was 6'8"!Just found out my guy Ryan had the SLOWEST 40 yard dash time ever by a QB at the NFL Combine.... Wonder why he never brought that up in conversation....

This explains even more why he transfered from University of Michigan when they hired Rich Rodriguez as their head coach. Mallett was a HUGE recruit for Michigan but RichRod ran a spectacularly successful offense at West Virginia (ask Georgia!) where the QB had to be a runner as well as a thrower which Mallett obviously was not.
I've always wished Michigan State hired RichRod even though he did not work out at Michigan. Michigan State has to stop trying to out Ohio State and Out USC and out Michgian with inferior talent and similar systems. They need a whole new offensive system that is very difficult to defend with the talent they get. Hard to go head to head against 4 and 5 star recruits with 2 and 3 star recruits. But they are Michigan State so actual thinking out of the box will not be one of their strong points.
Michigan State may be a mess but they are #1 in covering up sex scandals which is why they are getting just what they deserve on the field.
Only thing i ever heard of him running was once I was at his house (casual guest of his "cousin-in-law") and we were having a few beers out back and he said "wanna see something crazy?" We all followed him to his room, which was kinda weird, and he opened the door to this massive closet. It was FILLED with Nike Cleats and shoes. Most just scattered on the floor... he said "none of them have made me any faster..."

I've got 2 on for about 17lbs total, should be around 10 hours or so.....I'm keeping a journal of pork shoulder/booty, ribs, beef brisket, chicken, and trying for a perfect 5/5 spoons rating! Baby back ribs I've about dialed in to where I want them....brisket is still a WIP....1st 2 were huge whole brisket, could've gone better, last one was just a 5lb point, but wow! Finally figured out what the term "probe tender" felt like....4/5 spoons!
BBQ is definitely an art. Sounds like you know what you're doing! I worked at a BBQ restaurant for about 7 years. The owner finally bought a high end smoker that could hold (I think) 1,000 lbs of meat and run continuously as long as you fed it wood when needed... it was a ****** to clean out! Climb in with a big shovel and get to pouring out all that fat juice!

I loved those sets. You would send in wrappers and a small amount of $ and get a series of these. I think there were 6 series of 8 cards (or visa-versa) put out of these every year starting in 1983.
I'm such a pack rat I still have a lot the original envolopes these came in. These were like mini manilla envolopes and were from Soyosset, NY, I'm such a pack rat that if you look up pack rat in the Dictionary, my picture is shown. And when you see what I look like in the Dictionary you will all say "Damn! That is one good looking Pack Rat!!!!" and you'll get no arguement from me.
Just sayin'.
The way today's game is played and the new age stats they use, you gotta wonder if Boggs would even be considered a star today. Same with Tony Gywnn. And could Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine even break into a rotation seeing as he didn't throw 100 MPH? Batting average, wins, shut outs, complete games? Surely you jest.
Slap hitters get no respect in todays game. Guy can have 165 strike outs but hit 45 bombs and it gets him 40 mil a year. Back in the 70's guys were hitting bombs with higher averages and half as many strike outs. Making half a million dollars a year. And dont get me started with the pitchers... Id take Bob Gibson or Maddux over any pitcher in todays game. Skubal has potential but we will see if he can last a decade or so.
Speakimg of Skubal, I was shocked when the Tigers lifted him in the deciding game against Seattle after 6 innings because his pitch count was around 100. He had retired the last 15 batters he faced and they pulled him,,,,,,,,IN THE WIN OR GO HOME GAME!! Apparently Tiger fans were very upset about that especially since the reliever who took his place gave up the go ahead run in that very next inning!!!
One Old School player that would have been a big star today was Dave Kingman. He has all the stats, good and bad, to be just that.
About 6 or 7 years ago the media was gushing about Jacob DeGrom doing stuff that even Gibson and Koufax didn't so. When I compared innings pitched per start the old guys were 8,7 innings per start and DeGrom was 5.4. That is like taking Usain Bolt's 100 Meter time and saying he was on pace for a 2 minute mile! And the short outings for DeGrom certainly have not prevented major injuries for him. Dude is in his mid 30s and still does not have 100 career wins!!
Yep, and they went until 90 or 91 too. If I had more disposable income I would start looking for autograph opportunities for some of the older ones. And with the change in how the game is another guy who would be considered a super star now is Rob Deer. Exactly 50% of his ab with the Brewers resulted in a homer double, strike out or walk. (Or something along those lines). I feel like. I remember going to a Beloit Snappers game when they were a Twins affiliate and the pitcher Pat Dean had a perfect game going through 5 innings. Must have hit his pitch limit or something cause they took him out and the pitcher they replaced him with promptly gave up a hit. So if he had thrown one more pitch apparently his arm would have fallen off. One other thing about today's game is guys like Harper who have been around for a minute and aren't close to the high end numbers marks. Evan Longoria, short of even 2000 hits. It seems crazy to me.
I think I was going through some stuff a few years ago with this pull......
