Didn't believe it 'till I saw it on TV. Absolutely amazing!! And he was able to field grounders as well.

did you ever see him play in person? Even from the deep recesses of the Metrodome outfield seats, It was impressive as heck to watch this guy play. Kept a decent lineup off the board for 7 innings too. (Knoblauch, Puckett, Cordova and company in 1995)

No... never got to see it in person. My Dad (yet again) told me about a one handed pitcher and I didn't believe him. My dad actually got his mit out and showed me how he put his mit on as he followed through. Of course Jim Abbott made it look seamless, but my Dad tried. lol
It was a fluke that it was raining in G.P. during a game he was watching one day and the TV station showed an Angels game during the rain delay. Abbott was pitching and I got to see it. He made it look like he had 2 hands!! Didn't see him field any balls but it was amazing to see. My Dad's response to me finally seeing it was real..."Told ya so!"

This is what I was talking about.........Just black product names against a white label/package........The even sold beer that way........The store we went to, Big Bear (Ohio), carried these circa 1977 or so.......My Mom said inflation was so high, and with 5 kids, that it was economically viable; her words, not mine.......

I've got to ask my one brother if he remembers something like this. I don't remember ever seeing anything like this although if they were available my dad DEFINATELY would have bought those with 5 kids in our family as well. We always got bread and baked goods in "The Day Old Bread Store" where the products were pretty much stale. A few years ago I was talking to a woman who used to buy a lot of bread from the "Day Old Bread Store" and she saud she used to feed it to her hogs. I was like "Man oh man, that is what we ate". LMAO!!! My brothers got a huge kick out of that!

I can vaguely remember getting some products labeled like that in the 80's but most of it was the government cheese and stuff.

They may be cheap but you won't find a ton of them out there which is why I've always liked the oddball issues. I don't have that disc and am not sure if I have any of thet set.. I'd trade for any of those in a heartbeat.
These aren't hard to find and pretty cheap. I think King B was a burger joint... don't quote me on that tho!

I cannot find out what King B's is/was to save my life! A grocery chain? Burger joint? Bakery? Convenience Store? i just cannot find a thing about them.

And when it comes to oddball issues I definately put my money where my card trade mouth is. In a series of large trades with a member here I have recently traded for all of his Kelloggs baseball and Football , all if his 1970s Parker Brothers and Wonder Bread football, all of his early-mid 1980s baseball and football foil stickers and the ever elusive 1979 Topps Danny White. So I do indeed gravitate towards those issues, always have and most likely always will.

Bet y'all forgot about me collecting players that also served in a branch of the U.S. military..... Let me tell ya, this one was worth the wait! You think "Hero" and this man should immediately pop in your head!!

First the card. Then a short Wikipedia article.... PLEASE read the article. Absolutely AMAZING what this man accomplished.

My dad was a teacher and the other big card collector besides me in the area was also a teacher. My dad and he used to get those empty government cheese boxes to store cards in. To this day the other teacher and I STILL use tons of those boxes for card storage 4+ decades later. Oddly enough "cheese boxes" were better than the first wave of fold up card storage boxes as they all seemed to have a ridged floor where the cheese boxes were smooth and would not damage cards due to careless handling.
