You're reading the words of one happy Cowboys fan today! Can't wait to see the 2 first rounders progress. Gotta give props to the front office for going after a HUGE need at safety... and following up with a solid edge rusher. Well done Jones'es'esss fam.

1957 Topps Buddy Holly
"The Crickets" such a great band name. I love listening to them and Buddy Holly now-a-days. Great music, but also kinda funny. "I'm Gunna Set My Foot Down" he sings about his woman being submussive - or else! lmao Of course "That'll Be the Day" is about his woman leaving him... and he ain't gunna let that happen. "Not Fade Away"... another one tellin' his woman how it's gunna be. They had plenty of real "love songs" but it's just funny to me what it was like back then. The Beatles had their fair share of songs like that also early on, and the Rolling Stones... "Under My Thumb" man oh man The Mickster really laid it down. Love it!!

Very cool! Maybe you can shed a little light on this... I read that The Beatles got their band name from The Crickets... my Dad says not even close cuz it's not spelled Beetle but Beatles. A play on the insect spelling... any truth behind The Beatles getting their name from The Crickets?

I believe it is true, i think i remember reading that John Lennon wanted a name that resembled a insect theme since he was a fan of The Crickets...hench "The Beetles"...which was later just changed to a different spelling "The Beatles".

That and the WIZ probably paid him something for the advertising........
I was thinking the same... that's some major advertising there! It says The Wiz was in Season 9 Episode 5. Peak of Seinfeld... Everyone watched each week. And being the genius he is, Seinfeld decided to end the show at it's peak. What's the saying? "Always leave 'em wanting more" Perfect example.

Nope........They were HUGE when Seinfeld was aired in the 1990's..........Very big sponsor of Mets radio.......
On the NYC cable stations it was a constant run of The Wiz and Crazy Eddie commercials. The jingle "Nobody Beats The Wiz" is permantantly burned in my mind. And Crazy Eddie's prices were "so low they were INSANE!".

If mermory serves , the beer that sposored the Mets was Schaefer........."the one beer to have when you're having more than one".

I would occasionally watch WOR, McCarver and Kiner, and Schaefer was the sponsor.........Except I was probably guzzling Goebel Beer, Detroit's finest! McCarver grew up in Memphis (died here too).......

Well and the amount of songs from the oldies era that would not be recorded now....

One that's always killed me was a post army Elvis sing and the lyric was "that's when ill drag you home with me girl, I'm gonna chain you to the wall"

Dirty Dirty Feeling is the song
