I think it is because there are a lot of questions whether the patches are actually game worn. At least on major card company got caught doing this. I just saw a recent video where the guy was talking about this matter. If I find it, I'll post it here,.
I remember Bill White as part of the stellar WPIX Yankees TV broadcast team along with Phil Rizzuto and Frank Messer in the 70s and 80s., White and Rizzuto pretty much had a running comedy show with Rizzuto being Costello to White's Abbott. Rizzuto constantly cracked White up with his...
A borderline HOFer! He was a big track star which is not surprising given his gaudy kickoff return averge.
You could have given me a ton of guesses and I would not have guessed he went to college at Illinois.
And now that PSA has bought SGC, they'll really have a monopoly on the industry.
This does serve Beckett right though. When grading first began Beckett's claimed their service was the premier product and they priced graded accordingly with "King Beckett" being worth much more than any one...
They are #4 only because they specialize in Magic the Gathering and Pokeman. They are very small when it comes to just sports cards. I've never seen a CSG sports card before and after seeing that video I now know why.
I was hoping that video discussed resale prices compared to PSA but it...
I think PSA is only $15 or $16 per card unless it his a high value level with it's grade I wouldn't send this card in beause a no name compnay gave it an 8.5, then PSA will probably be 2 grades lower
I mentioned him in the original 8 Dolphin HOFers I came up with. The one I forgot was Jason Taylor and the one I had no idea he was in the Hall was Zach Thomas.
I'm not sure about the NFL but MLB has told certain players that they were not going into the Hall with the team they wanted. The best example of this is when Wade Boggs was going to get inducted as a Tampa Bay Ray until MLB put that idea to a halt.
AS for me, I want Mike Piazza to go in as...
I forgot Don Shula but that only gets me up to 9.
THe most amazing thing is Dallas having so many for such a young franchise. From that list only Dallas, the Raiders and the Chiefs would be considered "newer" teams. For them to only have 1 less HOFer than the much older Packers and tied...
The Dolphins? I'm going to guess 7 counting only players who played mainly with Miami. Marino, Griese, Csonka, Warfield, Little Langer and Buoniconti. Just remembered Dwight Stephenson so that makes 8. Rischles may know of others. I'm not real good on modern football so I very well may be...
Very much looking forward to seeing the results especially on the 4 older cards as well as the Trout.
Is SGC still charging the same since they were acquired by PSA?
Good luck on these!
The last regular Topps player card of Sonny. Oddly enough he appears 3 years later in the 1975 Topps NFL Passing Leader card with Ken Anderson of the Bengals. I'm not sure why he did not have a card in 1973, 1974 or 1975 if he played enough to be the NFC Pasing Leader in '74.
One other...
Not for the regular player cards but it is the design for an 8 card subset called All Time Leaders #471 thru #478. They are quite a popular group with the biggest of the big names on them. Here is what one of them looks like...
Geez,I'm looking at that card and thinking "I don't recall that card in 1973 Topps!" until I read your caption! I thought I was having memory loss for a second there.
Hard to believe that Yaz and Frank Robinson were back to back Triple Crown winners in 1966 and 1967 and it took nearly 50 years to have another in Miguel Cabrera. Even harder to believ e is that there has not been a Triple Crown winner in the National League in mearly 90 years (Joe Medwick...
Speaking for myself, that is because I have a wealth of knowledge on vintage cards and the players that were on them. But I make up for that by not knowing pretty much anything about modern cards and the players on them LMAO!
And to be honest that above statement is quite true!
Topps was a little late in updating Charlie's uniform since he is pictured here in a Cardinals uniform despite playing the 1970 season in a powder blue Oilers jersey. He'll always be a Cardinal to me, so I guess this card is the way it should be.
Mid to late 60s are my favorite era of cards for both football and baseball. The only thing I like better than the NFL Philadelphia football cards are the AFL Topps cards of the same yea
When the Lions were on their playoff run this past year, I kiddingly told my friend this was the best...
