September 2020 - Show Off Thread

Yes, there a variety of Topps designs for this year, as always. Personally, I think this year is one of the worst with regard to set designs and checklist. Really falls short compared to previous years. Sets reused this year include 1986, 1977, 1990, 1971, 1989, 1960, 1955 and a few others I...

Seattle area sports card shops (1990's and beyond)

I believe I was heading up to Groton in Feb/March 1989 for Sub School, then on to San Diego for my cross rating to Sonar after Nuke school did me in.

Seattle area sports card shops (1990's and beyond)

I was in the Nuclear Training program in Orlando, following boot camp there. It was 1987-88. I was fresh off leaving home and was still trying to maintain my collecting, but it would be the beginning of the end for a 5 year or so stint. I had no car while I was there, so I would get most of...

Seattle area sports card shops (1990's and beyond)

I found it under the members tab. it is reformatted and I didn't see the memorials any longer, but I didn't look at each page. Funny, the HOF levels are named after members, but besides the Robert Hall Memorial Wing, I am not sure the other two are active any longer (Primus) and (Legacy).

Seattle area sports card shops (1990's and beyond)

Yes, these shops probably span a good 80-100 miles from end to end. I visited a few others, but maybe they didn't have business cards or were out. I know I have been to more shops than that locally. And as for the websites (or lack of), most of these were mid 90s. Websites for physical...

Seattle area sports card shops (1990's and beyond)

I thought this would be a fun topic, as I recently unburied a bunch of business cards I had grabbed and kept. This discussion welcomes other regions and contributions, but I think anyone collecting cards in the PNW in the 90s/00s will probably recognize some or many of these businesses. I...

    The Bench Autograph Cards

David K mentioned that this forum took us back to 2008 or 2009, so I figured I would look. This is the first topic I came across, working from the oldest, that I thought might be fun to revive, if nothing more than the read. I did go 10 pages, but I don't think a signature set by members was...

MrMopar's REVIVED Annual Christmas Giveaway Contest

Nice to see some interest here and since there will be a good sized gap between now and the end of the contest, I will try to bump it up a few times in the coming couple of months. Keep the entries coming!

MrMopar's REVIVED Annual Christmas Giveaway Contest

Many years back, I used to be much more active on this site. I let my participation slip severely within the last near decade, but I would like to breathe new life into my efforts. My posting levels have risen in the last few months and I want to host a contest to get even more involved...

1st Sept Contest for Tony Gwynn auto serial to only 20! Winner is mrmopar! Contest is over!

Man, have not played one of these in ages. Let's hope for beginners (welcome back) luck! I'll take #48 please and thank you for running so many of these contests. I can't even imagine the $$ spent and given away by you for these! Very generous.

    Possible supply shortages alert

Prisoners being forced to work 8 hour days. That is just terrible. Wait, I work 8 hour days and I am not in prison. I probably make more than a prisoner, but still...

One Way To Send Free Cards

Yikes, that adds another level of difficulty to the situation for sure. I don't like going to the PO, but if I need to it, it is a fairly quick trip. I actually go to the PO of a neighboring City instead of mine, because of the size difference between the two offices and the trip to the...

One Way To Send Free Cards

I think there is a missing word or type, so not following exactly what you are saying. I have always put my own return address on SASE though, why would I leave it blank or use the other person's address, especially since they are sending it in my envelope. Not sure where a bubble mailer works...

    Kellogg's baseball want list

What a great run of cards. It really sucks that they are so susceptible to curling and cracking though. I've even heard people say they have cracked inside graded holders! Damn shame.

    $25.00 eBay Code!

Unless someone is keeping close tabs, there doesn't seem to be a distinct pattern to why it works for some and not others. Initially, it looked like longer time members were getting it. I did get it to work on my original account (1998), but it didn't work for my later account (2004). That...
