Bobby Bonilla was one of the premier mashers of the late 1980s and early 1990s. (You know, when I was getting old enough to get into the game.)
A seven-time All-Star, Bonilla had his best seasons with the Pirates. Between 1987 and 1991, he was responsible for 2.9, 5.4, 5.7, 3.7 and 4.5 WAR, respectively. A lot of people will remember him for his time on the Mets, particularly for that awesome 1993 Topps card with the New York skyline behind him.
Bonilla made news recently because it turns out that he is still getting paid by the Mets, even though he retired in 2001. Why? In 2000, the Mets agreed to a deferred buyout of Bonilla's last Mets contract. The Wall Street Journal reports that Bonilla will earn $1.2 million from the Mets each year until 2035.
From responses I've seen here, Mr. Bonilla is a reliable TTM signer. My experience reinforces this impression! I received:
1991 Bobby Bonilla Bowman 381 TTM Auto 10/3/2011 Pirates
1993 Bobby Bonilla Topps 52 TTM Auto 10/3/2011 Mets
1988 Bobby Bonilla Donruss Diamond Kings 2 TTM Auto 10/3/2011 Pirates
