I bought one of those $19.99 random pack boxes from target. Not much to talk about, except a few Derek Jeter Inserts.

There was one pack that blew my mind though.

2009 Upper Deck Artifacts:
4 1987 Donruss cards
2 2004 Upper Deck Vintage cards

Anyone else ever get a mind boggle like this before?

Thanks,
Billy

those random pack boxes are a crap shoot, lol. i've gotten a couple common gu from them, that's about it.

that's an odd pack you got, lol

Those random boxes are all of the 'leftover' retail packs that don't sell. They eventually get returned to the vendor and they are repackaged in a deal.

I've landed a few autos and jerseys over the years, but not enough of anything to continue purchasing them. A few packs I've opened, the cards were creased in half from kids bending them or packsearchers attacking them. The fact the packs were picked through before they were boxed is enough to not touch them.

I just bought two blasters of 2009-10 UD Basketball the ones where you get a free GU that were 40% off and both were still sealed and ALL the packs were open. No GU and scrub rookies. One was from Wal-Mart the other from Target. The 2nd box was at Target so I asked the lady if after I bought it would ok if I opened it in front of her because what had happen from the 1st box. Sure enough they were open. The lady told me they just received those boxes the day before......Dan

while i havent had a whole lot of luck with regular blasters and i almost never buy loose packs , but i must say some of my favorite breaks were the 19.99 treat and vantage variety boxes that used to dominate the shelves at k-mart and toys-r-us.....in many cases the "bonus items" were worth the cost of the box on its own but more often than not i had a nice hit (or two or three) per box including a dimaggio pinstripes jersey /125 and a mattingly/ripken/morgan/robinson quad bat /150.....

The 09-10 UD Basketball with the GU for 40% do well for me. I've been pulling the higher end Jordan Inserts $15-20. The GU have been good also, I pulled a Jordan/Lebron $50 and the others have been in the $20-25 range. Not to mention the various rookies and immortals cards.

A few years ago, we heard that one of our local collectors got a job distributing card product to retail stores in Northeast Florida. His job was to deliver and stock the packs, blasters, storage items and displays at Walmarts, Target, Kmart and supermarkets. He lasted 2 years on the job, until overwelming complaints from consumers forced the distributer to look into the issues: open packs in "sealed" boxes, no hits in packs (even guaranteed per box hits were missing), hot products never making to the stores, and packs with tiny slits in them.
When the manager of the distribution company came down here and surprised the guy at a local Walmart, upon inspecting his truck, they found: a diamond scale, a metal detector, razor blades, a box with hundreds of game used jersey cards in it, a heat sealer with plastic wrap with UD logo and thousands of common cards strewn about the truck bed.
He admitted that he was 'addicted' to shredding packs and couldn't stop himself. he was weighing packs to find the hits, using the metal detector to find the plates, and opening boxes, taking out the hits and resealing the boxes with his plastic wrap. He sold his big cards on Ebay. He went to jail.
Awful story, but true. There are some real losers out there.
