I sent this card last year to spring training around the end of february. He sent the card back unsigned in a red sox envelope, not my SASE. He included a small typed letter and a 5 X 7 photo. I can't tell if the the sig is real or a reprint?

Very cool success! He really doesn't have much of a sig, does he? Still cool, though!

From the scan it looks legit. However, those can be deceiving. Take a look at it under a powerful magnifying glass. If it's part of the photo the signature will contain the same characteristics and dotting the picture will have. It will look printed. Now, if it looks like it's covering the pic like a sig would then it's most likely the real deal.

The Red Sox have been sending out these preprints for most of the players on the team the past few seasons. I don't think they players ever see the mail. I got a David Ortiz back on Friday.

Bummer.

I'd say that it is fake. Read the letter closely:

"...I hope you enjoy this official team photo of me."

The letter never states that it is signed. At least you got something back!

Yeah, I just noticed that the sig on the pic and the sig on the letter look pretty much the same.
