Topps Chrome is a premium issue - obviously chrome, obviously very mirrorlike. The cards follow the base set this year as they have in previous years. Chrome looks good and by receiving nearly 35% of the base set of 200, one could conceivably collate a base set with 3 perfect boxes -- could be a stretch, but hey, one can hope. It would probably take 4-6 boxes to complete the base set. Here in O'do the hobby boxes are $110 +/- and the jumbos - with 5 autos, are $220 +/-.
Chrome should appeal to the set builder and the player collector. Player collectors will have red, blue, gold, orange, green, purple refractors and the same in prism refractors, superfractors 1/1, along with printing plates, a myriad of auto variations, even photo variations. Some of these come 1 in 50k packs.... talk about limited!! That's hitting the lotto!
In the 24 packs that I received, I believe that I got one insert/parallel in each pack - could be wrong, but I believe that is accurate. So if one is just buying packs, you should pull some inserts and/or refractors - some of which could be pretty rare.
I like the autos - they are blue Sharpee on card autos. Well done and they look great. There might be some redemption autos - not sure.
I also like the Greatness Returns inserts - looks cool.
Overall grade A -- excellent collation.
Go buy several boxes and send all of the Rays parallels to me!
