Awesome success! Wilbur could run like the wind. Around mid-season '75, Wilbur got a chance to play and the Astros organization really liked the way he set the table at the top of the line up. He could hit and steal a base or two. He mostly stole off of raw speed, it seemed like. He was around .300 most of the season and dipped back into the .280's to close the year. I often wondered what that team would have been like with Don Wilson. What most people don't remember about Don Wilson is the last game he pitched. He shut out the Braves, 5-0, on September 28th, 1974, on a two hitter. Yep, two seeing eye singles away from his third career no hitter. That's how good Don Wilson was, and that's how I will remember him. The '76 cards bring back those memories because of the patch.
