I received the following through a private signing:
1992 Hector Wagner Topps Stadium Club 323 Royals
Am I the only one who LOVES those early Stadium Club cards? I remember seeing those and thinking they were such a quantum leap beyond any other sets. Full-bleed photos, glossy stock. I also remember not being able to afford too many packs. They cost...a dollar? A dollar-fifty? Can you believe a pack of cards could cost any more than that?
Hector Wagner pitched only 7 big-league games but he can be proud to say that he has one major-league win. He started only 2 games in 1991, but the first, on June 19th, went pretty well. He started the game against the Rangers and pitched 6 innings of 1-run, 4-hit ball. He struck out Gary Pettis (twice) and gave up a home run to Rafael Palmeiro.
As I understand it (through the posts I read), Mr. Wagner is not in tip-top health. Here's hoping he comes out on the other end.
