This happens once in a while on other sites and it just happened me not too long ago today so why not make a thread about it? I post it here because this is the most common-sensed sportscard forum in existence. What am I talking about you ask?

I'm talking about my tradepage:

http://bblair_2002.webs.com

I spend alot of time typing out cards in my tradepage and it's somewhat a labor of love for me I guess. At first glance it may look confusing but many of us know how to use Ctrl and F and to type in a keyword to search for certain cards, right? I even tell people that on the home page of my tradepage.

My pet peeve about it all is why do people ask what I have of such-and-such a player or team when they can easily do what I said in the last paragraph and do it themselves? It's very frustrating and after telling a particular someone what I wanted and how to navigate my tradepage to find what he needs,he still asks what I had of certain cards and it felt like he just kicked me in the twig n berries.

Am I the only one who feels this way or am I just making a big deal over nothing?

Thanks,
Brett

I feel your pain--well, not the twig n' berries pain, but the hobby pain. I've spent a lot of time making a trade list and that is so people can find stuff they need, not for me to search for them. I don't have a lot of free time these days and was hoping this would be quicker. Maybe I'll just put a search engine on my page:)

I agree somewhat. When I see a thread and someone is asking for cards they need, I will take the 1/2 hour to look thru all my cards for them to fill their needs, but I do not want to take another 1/2 hour going thru their page to look for cards I need to fill my sets. I think the person asking for cards should take 1/2 the time and see if they have what I am looking for in return for my time of looking for them. just my opinion.

I agree but that does not happen all the time and that is what can be frustrating to me.

Im sure it happens all the time to people, more so on other sites. I guess it all depends on how experienced the trader is or if he is LAZY trader. Usually only happens to me with traders who dont have a tradelist / site themselves or has one of those well unorganized photobuckets.

Most other sites are not as organized when it comes to trading like this site is. I think that's why it's mainly photobuckets and blind threads asking for "Gimme All Ur Player", and they think that's the process. Some people can't conceive of any other way, so you sometimes have to help them out. CTRL F is great, works well for people searching for player or set name, but if a person arranges their Trade list alphabetically by player rather than chronologically and grouped by set the CTRL F can be very time consuming for us set builders.

On my site i list in alphabetically by first name (for player collectors) and by number (for set builders) and on each page says to search page us ctrl f

A couple weeks ago on another site someone asked me what I had of their insert set needs because he had some Diamond Anniversaries I needed so I copy and pasted about 20 cards of inserts I had for him and I stopped because there was more and I told him so and after all that time of looking at his page, looking at my page, copy and paste and repeat he blew off my thread and reply completely.

It's that incident that first brought it to my attention and although I don't get that kind of treatment here,it seems to be commonplace everywhere else.

I'm really hoping he asks me to trade again and I'll make it a point to let him have it ;)

That drives me crazy also. I got rid of my p;hotobucket about a week after I joined this site. It was way to hard to sort theu for myself and keep updated, so I knew it was rude to ask others to look thru it too. I am still building my website, not very computer smart, but it had made tradeing so much eaiser for both me and my tradeing partner. I am trying to spen about an hour a day building my site. So thanks for the suggestions here to make it a better one.:D

Plural?  :p

Totally understand you when it comes to the ctrl+f button. It is too easy to use, and it is laziness for those that know how and choose not to.

Rule one of modern society: everyone else's time and effort is in much shorter supply than yours. They have a card you want, get ready to work for it. I used to dream about owning my own business. Dealing with people in a customer service setting cured me of that.

I think you're blowing it a bit out of proportion. If someone asks you to do something you don't want to do, you can politely decline. Of course what you're willing to do depends on how bad you want what they have.

Eh I see where you're coming from. However maybe it's outdated or something, you never know. Better to ask. You could just reply with check my tradepage.

well, to be honest with you i never knew about this ctrl f thing. SO with not knowing that i would be lost there looking for my fave player. Nice set though and it sure does look like you did alot of typing. :)

I have mad typing skills thanks to that tradepage lol. Ctrl and F is very useful and quick and I'm sure you aren't the only one who knows about it so that's why I put a short tutorial on my home page.
