Anyone else have history with 1990 UD boxes?

Just opened my first ever box of 1990 UD Low Series. I had previously bought a box of Hi Series, so want to try and finish the set, as that's why I collect, really.

Found it very odd, as need many ranges of cards when started opening.

So after opening all 540 cards, I never saw one card in these large ranges that I still needed many cards from the Hi Series box results:

25-73
125-201
231-293
334-383
452-500

Got better results with higher ranges in 500s and 600s, but you can tell the patterns. Just boatloads of cards in 00s, 10s and 20s in each hundred range. Very far seldom other number ranges.

Anyone else open these early 1990s UD and are these weird results the same for all? I would find it doubtful, but that was a lot of cards to open and still need a ton from low series.

Those older issues are tough. Check the box for a code. If you buy another box, look for a different code. I bought a vending case of 1985 topps once. Much the same. Same darn "random" cards in just about every box. Came to find out that the cases were coded so I had zero chance at the Clemens, Puckett, or the McGwire since they were in different case codes.

Bought it online, so no chance of that. Just odd how large ranges past say 50 are never seen, or very rarely.

Think am doing buying unopened product for it though. Already bought two, so will fill out through a good commons vendor I know instead.

So this purchase I made had 1990 UD wax, 1991 UD wax and 1992.

Just opened low series of 1991 and awfully similar to 1990, if not even worse.

Tons of cards in each hundred, from 50 up, rarely any lower. I got two total cards from 500-550! Both in 40s. And in 400s, got 10 all in 440s. Not sure what makes it so hard to find cards from 00-40, but that's how it went in both years.

Very weird.

Upper Deck was terrible back in the day with collation. I opened a case of 2002 Upper Deck and after a couple boxes I realized the hits were in the same packs. I went through the whole case and every hit in each box came in the same pack.

After that every time I opened an Upper Deck product, I would map out the box for future reference because there was a card shop by me that sold packs. When I saw there was a new box opened that hadn't had any packs taken out, I would buy the pack I got my hit in. After doing this a few times I realized Upper Deck put the hits in all their products in the same packs in every box.

I dont think it was tampered with but Id bet my paycheck that the seller knew it was a dead case.

I have noticed similar correlation things with Upper Deck in Hockey, but also in Panini products.

If you have any set needs for these years, there are a lot of people here to trade with.

Those cards were so popular they fired up the printing press multiple times as demand needed it. Quality control was out the window, much like the last few modern years.

Just happened to look at your 1990 UD cards. I'm getting rid of alot of stuff laying around. I have these 1990 UD if you can use them.

This happened with a box I opened in 2020. I got zero cards from 377-423. Yet I got 344-376 and 424-449.
Collation was terrible in the early 90s for UD.
