Anyone buy any of these? I found them in Wal-Mart and don't know anything about them. It's a Flat cardboard package containing 3 different packs and one "Card & Jersey Set". Company's name is "Vintage". Price is about $8.00.

Any info would be great.

Thanks, Bob

They were the typical repackage retail item you have seen offered through the years. The cards used were a variety of different manufacturers and years. The swatches seemed to not match the player teams at times. I am not convinced the jersey pieces are even authentic uniforms or related to the player shown. The maker of these is not a big name in the industry, but I forgot who it was now.

I picked up different copies of the Garvey for the novelty of them, but paid as little as possible. I have 4-5 different cards featured and/or swatch piece/color combinations.

I bought one once just to check it out. Here is what the GU card looks like:

I do believe the backs say that the swatch is authenticated by Upper Deck, but the maker was Vintage sports

accually Upper deck is the ones who provided the Gu pieces (as stated on the back). i believe Vintage is now out of buisness.
here are some of the ones i got:

bongo870 is correct. They are legit. I remember when these first hit. Dawson had some so I went after them. I asked Talisen to talk to his Upper Deck connection and he verified that Vintage did buy the jerseys from them.

Thanks

I would expect to pay no more than 3-5 bucks for anyone but the very best players. I don't know what Ripken or Jeter might sell for, but I don't think I paid much more than $5-8 delivered for any I won. Their large size detracts from their collectability, as most oversized items have passed by collectors with little fanfare. They crease easy too, when shipped, if not well protected.

They make a nice novelty item for player collectors, but otherwise are just one of many failed oddball ventures. The lack of consistency is what bugs me the most. Topps insert cards, early 80s Fleer cards, UD cards, etc. All the cards are different and are mainly junk cards.
