i have a question about autographed 8x10s, im kind of hesitant to collect autographed photos, even though they look really, really awesome signed and are very nice to collect, because of my concern with photos fading over time. i have some in my collection that are beginning to fade, they arent that old (obtained in the last 10 years or so) have been kept away from sunlight and are on quality kodak paper, yet they are still fading. i dont want to spend/invest a ton of money on photos only to have them fade years from now. any advice/experience/ thoughts on fading photos? are they even worth collecting/investing in if they are just going to fade? any thoughts on how to collect autographed photos without they fading over time, any and all thoughts appreciated.

Any time a photo is put in a frame and displayed, even if it's in a room with little or no sunlight, you run the risk of fading. You still get exposure to room lighting. I've never had a problem with a photo fading when it's kept in a binder with acid free holders and I've been doing this with photos for over 40 years now. I've you are keeping them in holders already and you are having this problem, you may want to consider changing the holders you are using. I always use archival holders that you can pick up at any business supply store. If you use a top loader, trim a one page archival safe sleeve and use that to protect the photo.
