I'm looking for a real nice scanner that scans relatively quick. I mean obviously you get a better scan if it's slow but I want one that's nice quality and pretty fast. Anyone have any suggestions? I have a lot of stuff I need to scan pretty soon and I'll probably pick up a new scanner.

i always figured they are all about the same. it depends on the seetings you use in adjusting the scan and editing programs. just get the best you can aford with the best dpi (dot per sq inch) the resolution should be abou the same otherwise though out.

I bought a kodak all in 1 @ big lots for $55 and it is great. The ink last a long time and is pretty cheap also. The scan come out nicely and pretty quickly too. Also has the kodak one touch to touch up pictures and scans. I only know about what I have used, hope this will help. I do know to stay away from lexmark @ wal-mart they are awful.:)

Does anyone know of a flatbed scanner where the scan surface is smooth all the way across, and not recessed? I want something I can use to scan larger items in sections, but not have them get bent and wrinkled from the scanner lid smashing the paper into the depression where the glass is. It seems a simple concept, but from browsing various manufacturer websites, I'm not seeing any like this.

Any model in particular? I own one of the LiDE line (not an option due to poor color accuracy), and all the scanners I see on their site are recessed.
