Hey all, just had a few minutes and wanted to check in and say hey! I have a few Cardinals cards, one custom cut of my own creation from Smokey Joe Cunningham, to give away and want you to win them!

Let's keep it simple with a guess the number 1-75, one guess per member per day. Also, please share a favorite baseball memory along with your daily guess!

God bless!

Kevin

Good to see you back on The Bench..even if just for a moment or two!

I will start it off with #44.

The past couple of summers have been filled with great baseball memories...but I will go with the most recent one. Couple of weekends ago took my son to Pittsburgh and Cleveland to see his first MLB games. Judge and Lindor are his favorite players right now, so getting to see Yankees/Tribe in person for him was killer!

How about number 12?

Favorite baseball memory is attending Game 1 of last year’s World Series with my 5 year old son, parents, brother and family. Unbelievable once in a lifetime experience...especially for Dodgers fans! Lol

Thanks for the contest!

I go with 73.....My favorite was watching Barry Bonds vs Randy Johnson in San Francisco on a Sunday game in SF....temp at the time of the game 1: 00 PM was 90% .....that's right...normal temp of SF in Sept was about of 67 degrees....Bonds was 1 for 2 (single) and Randy Johnson pitched to Bonds....Best regards, David

Hi
Picking 19 as usual.

Well...Went to the September 3rd 2001 at Qualcom vs the Cardinals. Bud Smith vs Bobby Jones. Pujols hits a 2 run homer in the first and Smith throws a four walk no hitter. This currently the last no no by a Cardinal.

35, favorite baseball memory going to July 4th game this year with my wife. Watching the white sox and reds my two favorite teams. Also seeing my current favorite player Moncada homer in the game.

43 please

And my most favorite memory was my dad taking me to the old memorial stadium and I had the opportunity to meet a few Orioles Bumbry Dan graham who was huge Floyd rayford ken singleton etc. I didnt understand at that age why pop was working all the overtime but it was so we could have memories like this that i will never forget. God i remember them days like they were yesterday but i cant even remember were i left my car keys some days

12, 19, 35, 43, 44, 73. Love the stories, every one of those are so special, since they are exactly what is awesome about baseball.... The games create special memories for families and everyone involved.

My favorite memory is actually several separate games. My first game was with my beloved grandparents in 1988....my Grandfather was one of the news editors of the Chicago Tribune, and got some great tickets to see Cubs-Astros at Wrigley. Jamie Moyer went the distance, struck out 9, Cubs won, and we even got to see Harry Caray after the game too.

My two other special memories come from Busch Stadium, my cousin gave us two sets of 4 tickets, and our family went to two games, one last summer and one this past June. Did I mention that the seats were two rows back from the field, next to the visitors dugout? Players flipped baseballs to all 3 of my children between innings , one during the first game, and two during the second! I am 37 years old and have been to lots of games, and for our children to end up with a baseball each, pretty awesome! Special memories, no doubt!!

Keep the guesses rolling in, no winner yet!

Blessings!

Cardinals at San Diego...top of the third...Chris Young....all 6'10" of him...threw a slider down and away to Albert Pujols. Most hitters would have let it go or swung and missed..
Albert hits a liner up the middle, and hits Young right between the eyes, breaking his nose and fracturing his forehead. We could hear the ball make contact in the right field bleachers and we were sure Chris was dead!
.But, Albert wasn't done. On a following play, Albert levels Padres catcher Josh Bard, essentially sending the Padres battery to the DL.

68 please...........Watched Willie McCovey hit two homers in one inning against the Reds in 1977..........Still have the ticket stub from that game............

My favorite memory is going to my first MLB game in 1968 at Tiger Stadium. Being from very small town upstate NY, Detroit seemed a million miles away and I was an avid Tiger fan. 1968 was the year Denny McLain won 31 games so he was the big thing. Unfortunately, he pitched the game before so I was relegated to watching Mickey Lolich pitch. My dad said, that you never know he might end up being the big hero in the World Series that year and sure enough he was, winning 3 games against the heavily favored Cardinals in the '68 series. To top it off he beat the unbeatable Bob Gibson on short rest in game 7.

And the big thing in my first game was my absolute favorite player, Willie Horton, hitting a home run. So in honor of that, I'll choose Willie's uniform number 23.

Good to see you back Kevin even if it is just for a short run. Where else can we talk about Bob "Butterbean" Love, Clifford Ray. Mongo McMichael, Ralph Taeger, Mickey Lolich and Willie Horton other than your topics? Hope all is well with you and that you get to stay around a little longer.

I just realized I probably can name more players from the 1968 Tigers than I can name players playing today in MLB!!!!!

27 please.

so many memories. one in particular, as a kid and Mets fan, acquiring George Foster from the Reds in '82, and finally adding a "star". Got to see him hit a dead center feild homer at Shea Stadium.

4, 5 12, 19, 23, 25, 27, 32, 35, 43, 44, 68, 70, 72, 73...no winner yet!

Thanks for the nice words Jeff, and truly fun stories everyone! It's awesome to read memories and reminisces that are so special to everyone, and awesome to hear stories from games of the past! I too could name more players from the 80s than today for sure! Baseball and football I bet!

I am hopeful that my own children will grow up with some awesome memories around the ballpark, we are going to our local independent league team tomorrow night for a game, and my 3 kids I am sure will watch only a few outs and then run around and play on the ballpark playground the rest of the time! It's a blast having fun with them, they love it, and it's very inexpensive entertainment!

God bless,

Kevin
