"Chrome Proof" Ebay Scam... BEWARE

This one'e been around for a while, but I recently saw another one of these "super rare cards" surface on ebay. I'll show you what I'm talking about here. There "proofs" are just boiled down Topps/Bowman Chrome cards, it's really easy to do and in fact I've done it to a few no namers just to see it it actually works (not selling them of course ). Anyways, I saw this one here just go for $10 and it just outrages me to see such selfish ebay sellers, willing the exploit the naiveness of new collectors. A sure sign of a "chrome proof" is that the boiled version is actually reversed from that of the original card... a dead giveaway. I'm almost tempted to send the seller a message asking where he got this rare card and if he has any more for sale. PLMK thoughts, opinions, ect. on this subject. Thanks!

Always a good reminder... I actually bought one of these way back in 1999, and then I learned of the scam...

the seller has written the discription vauge enough though that if someone challenged it he could say "I never said it was a pack pulled or company produced card"

Yeah, I looked at his feedback and all he sells is "plates" and other fakes. Surprisingly, he only occasionally gets a neg.

Response from the seller:

it's not pulled from a pack, i was told it was from the topps
vault. they sell rare printing plates, proof plate, test print, etc...

these are rare one of kind item

i only have one left in my collection, it's chin feng chen chrome
bowman rc bidding for the call. i'll only sell for the right price,
since it's my only left.

I didn't even know they existed....so ty for letting us know....
And, you can tell it's not a real plate just by the design of it....

What a shame this has to go on!! That guy needs to be banned!!
