I cannot seem to find anything on the site about port sales. Do they still allow that? If anyone has any info on how to do it, that would be great. Also curious about actual port sales experiences if you sold one - what % did you get! how long did it take, etc.

You need to be in your dashboard - find the promotions manager on the left. Inside the promotions manager it gives the option for the port sales - the price is $10.00 for a week/until sold now.

I've sold a few partial ports on there - be prepared for a lot of low offers. Your best bet is to price it at your lowest possible price and if anyone gets close to take it.

If you don't mind selling over a few weeks time - start by offering a 20% off promotion for a day, then up to 25% off, then 30% off, 35%, 40%, etc. This is the best way to maximize what you get back.

Got it - thanks!

It wouldn't hurt to try promotions like you suggested, so maybe I'll try that first.

Out of curiosity... I have 600+ items with $3000+ BV (plus 8 with no BV). My total listed price was just above $1500 I think. So are you saying I'd get offers like $400 or $500? Or would it be even lower than 1/3 of my asking price?

Thanks for your help!

Usually 20% of your asking price is the minimum offer allowed, so most offers come in at 20-25% of asking. Just a matter waiting it out, settling for peanuts, or counter offering. The third is my route i used the two large ports ive sold.

It really depends on what the cards are in your portfolio. If it's full of A-Rod and autos of failed prospects, the offers will be a really low percentage of BV. If it's stuff that sells well, the offers will be higher.

Ah, I forgot about the 20% rule. That gives me a better idea of what to expect - thanks! Did you ever regret your port sales? I always thought I could be happy flipping/selling the low-end refractors and such, but am considering abandoning that approach. Except for the fact that I could regret it later on.

Richard - you know I only got the good stuff... and I sell 'em before they become failed prospects (Michael Choice better not let me down).

Mostly a megaload of my Mauer collection and some of my Ichiros that I thought I could sell easier on COMC than ebay, and all the refractors and parallels I couldn't trade here. The median card in my port is a emerald Heroes Greg Maddux (asking $1 - 33% of BV). No one will be drooling over my port, but I just thought it would be easier to sell a lot of these on COMC than it seems to be.

A lot of people who buy ports are looking to flip it, so if it's stuff you haven't sold at 30-40% of BV, they likely are looking to pay half that or less.

I find it amazing what does and does not sell at times. I dont regret porting, but it wasnt anything i couldnt do without. I think it was around 30% of my asking price last port.

I've never sold my complete port - I usually use it as a way to decrease my inventory and move some older stuff. Never been a regret with it.

You may get offers of 10% BV just so you are aware. If you do the promotion thing, what is left will likely not be the best stuff and I would honestly just let it go for the best offer you get over the first few days. If you just run the port sale, have a number in mind and if anybody gets close to it - take the offer.
