Hello, I have a question regarding shipping on COMC. I tried out the site and it was good for awhile, now only very little sales and a TON of Low ball offers, so I decided I wanted to have them ship some cards back to me as id rather keep them in my PC rather than accept low offers. My question is, after i went through and selected the cards i wanted to ship, it said the total for shipping was $59.87!!!!!! Really?? It shouldnt cost more than $5.00 to ship those cards! So, what do I do? do I wait until they offer a shipping special? it just seems wrong that they would make us pay almost $60.00 to ship our cards back to us. its almost like they "trap" you because once they "have' your cards they price gauge on the return shipping and will hold your cards until you pay there high prices, in my case almost $60.00!! i knew one day if i wanted my cards back, id have to pay return shipping costs, but $60.00 id ridiculous. im stuck, because what do i do, as they have possession of my cards!!!!!!! your thoughts please.

Hello
I do not use COMC but saw this on their FAQ:

If I use your consignment service, can I ever have some or all of my cards sent back to me?
All of your cards remain in your control at all times. You can have any one or more of your cards sent back to you at any time. When you sign into the website, you will be able to create shipment requests. Standard shipping rates apply, but if you use the bulk shipping option, we won't charge you any more than $25 for cards that you originally gave to us. Your cards are never more than $25 away.

Keep in mind that COMC has millions of cards for sale and employs people to pull them when they are requested to ship, and an order that would generate $59 in shipping costs is a lot of cards, which could take a tooonnnn of time to go pull depending on how they organize stuff. That's what most of the $59 is going towards. I never really have understood why more people don't get that.

This is correct. If you are the original "submitter" of the card, you can get ANY amount of cards you originally sent for $25 max. Less if you their normal fees don't add up to $25. I have only had a handful sent back here and there for various reasons, and paid the regular shipping on them.

The biggest thing I can recommend is reviewing lots before you send them in for sale...I have started doing that to double check I want to 'sell' everything.

Have you had decent luck selling stuff on there? I was thinking of sending in 300-400 low numbers cards/rare inserts to sell because it's hard for me to trade them because I can't find someone who needs them AND has something I need. I figured that way I could just use what $ I get from selling to buy things I need.

Thanks,

Craig

I have sent in two batches of around 400 cards, one late 2011, one late 2012.

The 1st one, I sold about 50 cards the first few days, then sold the rest as a port at a huge discount. I made a few hundred dollars on that batch.

The one this year, I kept inventory around much longer. Over black friday I sold a substantial amount, but december was the best by far. January my inventory had been pretty cherry picked, but I priced 95%+ of my inventory the lowest on the site. I was selling $8 BV SP's for a buck and change, but moving them...which is the important part.

I've sold high end 100+ cards, and low end cards where I netted a few cents over cost.

I would recommend taking a sample of what you want to list and see if there are other copies already listed. If so, you have to list the cheapest if you want to sell. The cards that have no other copies around, more than likely will do well, especially if they are hard to find. Sometimes it is a matter of time (and money) for the buyers.

I have turned this latest port into probably 600-700 after cost. I just sold off the last 54 cards as a 'port sale' and grossed 140 on it (my asking price on those 54 through regular purchase was around 320, so I took less than 50% to move the final stuff out). 90% of it was stuff I had no desire for in my collection.
