I am planning on going to a show this weekend so I can maybe pick up a few. I am getting the Rod Carew because that is last card I need for my set. But your list is going to be a tough one. The high numbers are going to be brutal I'm afraid.

I will let you know late Saturday or Sunday what I can find.

OK thanks! I finished the 66T set first and it was difficult to pull together all of the high numbers for it. I picked up several 72T high numbers on Sportlots at a really good price but as you can see I still have several to go.

Very impressive finishing the 1966 Topps set. I am down to 57 cards for my 1960 Topps set. I just picked up the McCovey All Star card today. But unfortunately the Mantle is one of the ones I need. The last time I checked it booked for 1,000. Kind of hard to convince the wife to drop that kind of money on a card.

The 1972 and 1966 sets are both bears to put together thanks to the sheer number of high numbers in the 1972 set and the short print high numbers in the 1966.

Have you guys ever heard of the rumor (or urban legend) surrounding the Bob Shirley/Grant Jackson RC #591 in 1966 Topps? It is a short print high number that some guy was alleged to have bought up as many copies of this card as he could, thereby doing a pretty good job of cornering the market, and driving the price up? A knowledgeable dealer of vintage told me this recently and that card 20X more expensive that your regular short print high number.

I heard a similar rumor about the 66T cards in general. I read where a major dealer was buying up as many as he came across to corner the market. I don’t know who the dealer is but it was challenging for me to finish the high numbers. I picked up a high grade Shirley/Jackson RC on an eBay auction that didn’t get many bids.

I looked in my Beckett vintage and was astounded that the card books for 300.00. And my book is from Feb/Mar. The only other story I heard like that is when it was rumored that someone was buying one particular year of Topps Curt Flood cards. And one other time I heard someone was buying all the Rocky Colavito cards they could find. I had never heard that about the 1966 Shirley/Jackson

Do a web search on 1966 Topps 591 and you’ll find several interesting articles about the card. One from Sports Collectors Daily (2012) & another from Post War Cards (2021) are worth checking out.

I am sorry but I think I am going to pass.

Check out my trade list and let me know if you need any of the dupes I have listed. If they are close to EXMT+, I’ll send you scans of them in a PM.
No matches on the '72's. I'm going to check other years. What stadium is shown on your home page?

The original home of the ATL Braves. Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. I was there for plenty of games growing up including Game 3 of the 1982 NL Championship series against the Cards, all of the 1991 NL Championship series against the Pirates and 1991 WS games against the Twins during the miraculous run that year. Great times!

I meant the smaller stadium at the top. I thought it might be Gwinnett.
