I dont think one is necessary. I am on a another site that has the function, I've never used it. If there are certain cards your are looking for, posting in the Baseball Wants section is a great way to see what everyone else has.

I know for me a database is just one more thing I have to try and keep up to date. I have all my Game Used and Auto's inputted into a excel program, so it makes it easy for me to find what people may be interested in. I can quickly look up by team, player, and/or sets. Thus like I said before just post and let us know what you may be looking for.
