Could be worthless, not sure. I put it in a penny sleeve so that you can kind of see the scale versus a regular sized card. I know Ross Verlag was a German company that produces postcards in the early 1900s I believe. But this is obviously smaller than a postcard. The back is damaged, the card was in a scrapbook of some kind and when it was removed the material it was pasted onto came off with it. Can post a back scan if need be. Anyway, does anyone have any info at all into this?

EDIT: Well, I found out it is a Ross Verlag cigarette card that was sold in Germany. I have emailed the owner of the Ross Verlag site to see if they can shed any light as to the years they were sold.

Thanks for the input. I did see those on ebay but I *think* those are all standard postcards. Mine is a card that was distributed via cigarette packs.

Yep, you are correct ! I was wondering why none of those had the same photo.

Refined my search a little and found this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...2F3tfY%2Fb15VmlN9peuE%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc. Unfortunately it didn't get any better. It's not a great title or description but good enough I think to give an idea of value.

The value of a lot of those old tobacco cards isn't anywhere closely related to their scarcity. For whatever reason they're just not highly collected/sought after. I bought a lot at an auction a few years ago of several hundred German tobacco cards from ww2 that featured major movie stars and military aircraft/ships/guns. Thought I had made a great purchase but ended up selling at about break even. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(

Alan,

No bad news whatsoever. I didn't buy it to flip (unless it ended up being epic scarce of course LOL) just bought it because it was cool. Full disclosure: I paid $1.50 for it. I'll just add it to the "neat oddball" section of my PC. Thanks a lot for your research, that auction was incorrectly titled and I would have never found it.

tim, that's a nice card, from the front it looks outstanding, sharp corners, nice edges and clean! too bad about the back.

awesome find if you ask me :)

Agreed !

As a proud founding member of the short lived Old Film Club in junior high that focused on silent comedy movies, for a buck and a half I would have scooped it up too ! Who cares what it's "worth"
