Does different jersey color mean its a variation?

I collect these N43 relics, and just picked up my second one of these. I surprisingly noticed that the exact same Matt Kemp card has variations in the jersey colors. One is a white home jersey, while the other is a swatch of a gray throwback jersey. I have only seen one other 2010 Allen & Ginter Matt Kemp N43 relic and it had the gray swatch.

Topps is usually very good at keeping things like this consistant. Anything anybody can tell me here?

Anyone else have this card?

Beckett doesn't list a variation so I would guess Topps just ran out of one color and substituted another, or had a few extra scraps lying around from a Kemp jersey they decided to put in this set. Usually they are consistent but sometimes they just switch stuff up in the middle of a print run.

Another example is Trevor Cahill's 2011 Topps 60 Autographs...they can be found with either a silver auto sticker or a clear auto sticker. They aren't listed/marketed as a variation, so Topps just ran out of the older-style silver sticker in the middle of the run.

I have two 2010 Panini Classics Platinum autograph cards of Russell Okung, both #/25. One has the sticker auto and the other is stamped "no autograph", presumably because they ran out of autographs. Again, Beckett doesn't list a variation but they probably don't know that Panini didn't actually issue 25 with autographs.
Incidentally, last year I pulled an N43 relic of K. Youkilis, if you need it. I'd trade it for comparable A&G autos and/or relics that I need.

I would say no. But it is something cool to collect. Like my Carlton Flair greats cut of history. All have the same number:

Dale,

That's crazy that you pulled an auto that was stamped "no auto". I hope that didn't count as a hit! Did you do anything about it aka contact Donruss?

Also, I'd be interested in that Youk N43 Relic. Have a list of stuff that you need A&G wise?

I actually pulled a redemption card, and it showed up in the mail as "no auto." I then went on ebay and bought one that had the autograph.
Most of the autos and relics I need from A&G are from the non-sport people. If you can list out a few of those you have to trade we should be able to come up with a deal.
