Is #196 a true RC? Didn't Harper have cards in 2011? I have got to get out of football more often. Did hit a Darvish tho

Yes it is considered a "true rookie card". Harper's 2011 cards are "prospect" insert cards. MLB put in a new rule several years back that card companies could not produce "official" rookie cards (with the rookie card logo) before the player appeared in a major league game. So Topps got around it by making all of their cards of minor league players into prospects inserts.

To make it even more confusing, several players will have prospect cards and rookie cards in the same year...Bryce Harper had prospect inserts in 2012 Bowman and Bowman Platinum, but will have RCs in Bowman Chrome and Bowman Draft. Yeah, football is way easier.

Dilfer....thanks so much.....one more question....are there any other RCs I should be looking for besides Harper and Darvish?

Trout doesn't have a RC in 2012 Topps Chrome (his RCs were in 2011) but Cespedes, Brett Lawrie, Will Middlebrooks, and Wei-Yin Chen seem to be the top ones other than Harper and Darvish.

Oops, sorry. I wasn't aware Trout was with the MLB team on 2011.
