Durham Bulls Opening weekend IP

Not sure if everyone knows but North Carolina was in the line of fire from all of the storms that produced tornados in Alabama, Tennessee and a few other states. So we had tickets for the Bulls game tonight and then about the time we were going to head out the bottom fell out. We stayed home during this and tornados actually touched down a few miles from our house. We actually had debris in our yard from some homes that were destroyed. Not knowing if the game was going on, we left at 4:35 for the 5:05 game. We got there a little after 5 and we kinda happy to see a rain delay.

So we watched the Bulls hang on for a 1-0 win against the Gwinett Braves. It was a great game with a few hits and a strong pitching performance from both teams.

After the game, my wife and I met up with Tim DMBfan for the post game team autographs. It was so nice to finally meet a Benchie at a game. We talked and he showed me his photos he made for some of the players which are VERY nice and awesome. He also presented me with a REALLY NICE gift. Some 89 Topps autos!!! I was shocked and felt bad that I didn't have anything for him. But I will be sending something to him! It is no nice to have others help others which is one of the biggest reasons why I love The Bench.

Sorry Zack, I got tickets early in the week and wasnt sure I had enough time to get cards from others. What project are you working on? I am going back to more games in this summer. Let me know what you need and I can work on getting it taken care of.

I wish some of the players would have signed more then one but they didn't.

Tell you what, next time I head to a game, I will let you know way before. This was kinda last minute. I am sure Justin will sign it. He was quiet, but nice.

I know last year, the whole team signed autos sometime during the season again. I didn't go then but if they do this again, I am planning on going. Will keep you posted.

Thanks Andrew. Thankfully we were spared but others weren't. There was a tornado that hit about a mile away from our house. We actually had debris from some houses that got demolished, and in our yard. I picked up roof pieces and insulation. Kinda a freaky thing.

When we got home from the game I saw a map on the weather channel where there were 9 paths that tornados came from. All in all I believe around 15-20 tornados dropped on NC. I am sure some were the same ones that just skipped here and there. One went pretty much the entire central to eastern part of the state.
