EBAY Sellers do you use delivery confirmation?

It's definitely a good idea to mention you ship in bubble mailers...more and more sellers are shipping in PWE's to save money and don't mention it in their description, so I am hesitant to bid on auctions that don't specifically mention how they will ship. I'll ask if I really want the card but if it's something I'm on the fence about a lot of times I'll just move on.

I only use it on things I sell that are above $15, unless something rare sells below that amount. Should there ever be an issue with an item that sells below $15, I'll refund the money. In the long run, I'll save more $$$ on the low transctions by not buying DC than I will ever pay out in claims.

Tim

pretty much exactly what I do ... also the buyer's feedback may sway my decision on whether to use feedback or not (low # or low %) - erik

DC is cheaper, but I typically use insurance. I am guaranteed to be covered every time. If it was lost, I am reimbursed. If it was not lost...

The one time I got challenged for nondelivery, I forwarded the response to the USPS for insurance recovery (minimum 30 day wait for actual action). They contacted the buyer because the buyer claimed no delivery but the USPS knew it was delivered. Needless to say, trying to cheat me out of 20 bucks was not worth the effort of being charged with fraud by the USPS.

ATTN EBAY SELLERS: Please, please, please use delivery confirmation to protect yourself from scammers on EBAY. (Trust me it is worth the extra cost to just pay for DC) Looking at my EBAY stats, I have had 4 buyers in the last few weeks say their item hasnt shown up and I just refunded their money (all were cards under $10) so now to cover me in any potential ebay/paypal claims, I SEND everything, even $1.00 cards with Delivery Confirmation, so im covered. I raised my shipping prices to $3.00 to help cover the cost of using delivery confirmation. there are way too many scammers on ebay saying they dont get their cards and then keep the cars and file a claim against you. when someone does this to me, i just put them in my block bidders page, so they wont have the chance to scam me twice. hope this helps some of you that sell on ebay.

I'll ask what are probably very obvious questions, that I could look up myself.....

Do you need a scale to ship via paypal from home?

Can you print shipping labels on plain paper and tape them to the mailer? Similar to what UPS allows it's accounts to do?

Thanks,

Frank

Frank - Yes and Yes. I guess you don't have to have a scale if you are good at guessing! Stamps.com runs deals where they give you free postage and a scale. I don't know if it's worth using for the term to get the scale or not though.

Thanks
Craig

I guess I phrased my question wrong. What I meant to ask was does the scale need to be connected to the computer, through a USB cable or someother cable. Or can you weigh the item on scale that is not connected and then type in the weight?

Thanks!

Frank

I use it every time. I use Paypal shipping, so it's cheap and easy to do. Buyers appreciate it too.

Frank,

You just weigh the package, and enter the weight in the spavce provided. I picked up a scale on eBay several years ago for $20.00 dlvd. It's a weightMax digital postal scale. I don't recall who I got it from, but it has performed faithfully on with only one battery (9 volt) change in all this time.

I use DC for all my packages. I use eBays shipping labels, and have no worrys at all. I also do not offer a refund policy. In my store policies, I let buyers know I stand behind my items, but I also let everyone know I don't intend to waste postage and time on buyers remorse. Also, if you are concerned about shipping fees, use the shipping calculator. State in the item description that you will add, say .75 for handling (including DC and bubble mailer). That way, buyers know what they are getting for their charges. With up to 3 ounces being the same price for 1st class, free combined shipping should be a no brainer, and should increase sales a little.

Right now, I'm not selling cards. But I believe I have my store set up in a way that makes both buying and selling easy. Check it out.

I have sold many cards on ebay and I learned my lesson a long time ago. I use delivery confirmation on everything. I sold a 89 UD Griffey RC and the buyer said he never got it. After that, I sent DC.
Thanks,
Ron

Thanks for the info!

ebay and paypal are just set up for scammers to scam ex. as a buyer all you have to do as a buyer is say you didnt receive the item and if the seller fails to provide delivery conf/tracking info, ebay and paypal closes the case in the buyers favor. i know this for a fact because it has happened to me many times by people that buy from me. the most common scam that is going around ebay now is as below(it happened to me as recent as last week)

1. buyer emails seller an says "where is my item?" "do you have any tracking info on it?

2. seller responds back with "no, i didnt send it with delivery confirmation or tracking.

3. buyer responds back. "well, i never received it, so im filing a claim against you with ebay and paypal"

4. seller, if scared to get negative feedback or low dsrs, will refund the buyer money. OR WAITS OUT THE EBAY/PAYPAL dispute which 99.9% rules in facer of the buyer due to ebays buyer protection program...buyer then gets the card(s) PLUS your money, so in essence they are getting the card(s) for FREE AND making money on the deal.

so, sellers just be careful and protect yourselves selling. hopefully this will help some people out.

I did on ALL sales until I obtained my "Top Rated Seller" tag. I have started to mail $7 or less sales in a bubble mailer with .88 stamps now.
