Is there anyone out there, expert or otherwise, that could tell me anything about a non certified Eddie Mathews autograph on 8x10 photo? I have taken this to cards shops and card shows and really no one can tell me what an accurate trade value or cash value might be.

Any help appreciated!

Yes, but I can't post attachments in the thread because I am a Rookie on the site. Can I do it through a PM?

An accurate trade/sell value is whatever makes both parties happy.

I paid $25 or $30 for mine 2 years ago, I know people that wouldn't pay that much for a non certified, and others who would pay that or more if they liked the piece. If a person would rather have a card signed, but an 8x10 is what is available in their price range, the value would be lower than if it was someone who collected 8x10's as their primary interest.

I got it from a deceased uncle in an inheritance. It appears to have always been in a sleeve, no evidence of handling or wear.

Due to the non-certification as well as the flaws in the signature (it lacks the bold auto that people like to have for autos), I would say you could get $15 for it. Maybe $20, but that is pushing it. He has a lot of signed items out there, so the market is full of his stuff and drives the price down.

Thanks for the replies...I knew I would get some good info out there. I had someone at a card show tell me it was only worth $10 and he said he would buy it, I felt like it was a scam so I moved on.

$10 might not be too far off the mark for a dealer's first offer --their lowest-- but I would say $15 - $20 is more realistic. He'll probably try and sell it with a $30 - $40 but would likely take less if someone were to haggle a little.

Since I am more interested in trading, I should probably be asking what a good trade value is?? If a realistic number is $15 for cash, what is the average market value for cards? autos? Seems like 30% would be an average (seeing things go for between 10-50% of book)??? Could this Mathews go for $50 BV??

I'm not sure, looking for opinions.

Tuff Stuff magazine has a price guide for BV autographs. I don't have a recent issue but I bet there are members here who do. That would at least get things pointing in the right direction.

So this should be in the price check forum??? I didn't think to do that because it is non-cert and not a card (8x10 photo)...do they book stuff like this??
