I'm starting to pick up cards to send out to Spring Training for autographs (I might actually go this year as well) and I was wondering what are some newer sets with prospects that are either non-glossy or not very glossy and good for autographs? I've been a bit out of it in terms of new releases so any help is appreciated

Those are all very good answers, you need to stay away from the glossy cards. I.E. most any type of bowman. The A&G cards are definately coolest for autos, and Im sure you can find anyone you need for trade on this board. The Goodwins, Goudeys and Topps Heritage also all make for great autos. None have that gloss that prevents sharpie from sticking well, hence smudging easily. Obviously if you do have glossy cards of a player they need to be powdered well or rubbed with an eraser before an auto is attempted. The issue with goodwin and A&G is they arent only baseball, you probably have an easier chance of getting all the baseball players out of heritage. Another thing to consider is several brands start producing 2011 cards early in the year. By the time spring training comes, the 2011 cards that were released in feb will be out. With all the off season trades there is a better chance that the player you seeing at ST actually on the right teams card in the newer sets. Dont know any release dates off hand, but already seeing presales on various websites, so Im sure they'll be out before ST.

2011 Topps Heritage is due out pretty soon, and man...those 1962 designs would be sweet for autographs.

All those sets they mentioned are good but they don't have any prospects in them like you are asking about.

The only thing you can go with for prospects is Bowman and they are glossy. All you have to do is rub them down with some baby powder and you don't have to worry about the gloss anymore.

You can also try Donruss Elite Extra Edition & Topps Pro Debut. The Topps you won't have to worry about the gloss either.
