Very cool!! Mr. Office stamped my SASE with "$25 to sign cards".

wow! really?

Mine has been out there for years... I don't even remember sending to him actually, but my SASE had older postage on it that I haven't used for years.

I haven't seen other successes from him... maybe I got lucky with this one.

Wow! awesome haul! Yes, Office is notoriously tough. Has been for years. Hiatt is one my favorite former Astros. He was the 'stros back up catcher in '71, but I still remember a play he made in the Dodgers dugout that year. Yes, the dugout. On a foul pop he sprinted from his catchers postion, jumped into the Dodgers dugout, and made the catch. Walt Alston was a few feet from him when he made the play, and they kept showing the replay later and you could see Walt saying, "Wow!"

Dodgers still won, as I recall.

Great returns...I noticed a lot of former Expos players use that same letterhead paper.

That's because I include it in my envelope.... I found early on when I started this project that alot of players would write back quick notes... some would use my letter to write on, some would find notepad paper or even yellow post-its a few times.... so I started adding that piece of paper to start a side collection of notes from my Expos Heroes!

here's a quick picture to show examples of what I got... I have a ton more than that, I must have upwards of about 75 of them, and that's not counting the notes I'd get back before I started adding the paper... the paper is not big, it's actually the size of a standard envelope (so it fits nice)... I don't pressure anybody to use it, it's just a nice bonus when they do... some write long notes, some short ones, some simply sign it and others don't send it back at all... but that's fine of course.

That is a really great idea and makes for a nice odd ball collection. I love it when I get surprises such as a side note from a player or a relative of theirs. I have gotten several nice notes from spouses of players, asking for additional photos that I've done, explaining what the player has been up to since retirement, etc. Thanks for sharing this part of your collection.

looks like I got lucky somehow... a friend of mine got the same thing yesterday, the "$25 to sign cards" stamp..... The request was out there for over 4 years. After seeing my success he decided to send another last week... he's now not holding out too much hope on a successful return for the new request.

looks like Mr. Office is opening his mail that has been piling up, but unfortunately not signing many...

Well said. I completely agree! Congrats with The Office!
