I have this Highland Mint 2-coin matched numbered set with maddux & chipper jones together numbered 3/2500 and made of bronze. I cant figure out what set exactly it is out of ? Below is what comes up on beckett for the two players but nothing with them together or any mention of another /2500 of maddux except the one with cy young or the pinnacle version which it is not. Its very similar to the 1992-98 version of maddux i have but this one has nothing on the hat part and way more info on the backside. I bought it on ebay awhile back but cant find anything similar to it since.

Here's a scan of the coin set in question

Here's what a maddux 1992-98 looks like

Some but not much info

I was a highland mint dealer in the 1990's. The coins and cards were made of bronze, silver or gold plated. At times the sales reps would get coins and cards in a number series, particularly if a dealer made a large order.

I have seen the highland mint values in Tuff Stuff in the past.

In my opinion all the edition sizes are all very large, though at the time, the 1990's, it did not seem so. Only Nolan Ryan and a few other notables were said to be sold out at the factory. I have my doubts however and was always able to reorder the majority of issues even years after initial releases.

It should not be hard to find any of of your wants with a little digging and posting.

Hope this helps.

Steve

Double set from Highland Mint

Anyone know?

That was a combo set of the bronze coin edition of C. Jones and G. Maddux. Combo, same serial number set, of the same coins that were sold as singles.

These were not a seperate set or coin edition. Highland Mint grouped the Atlanta players. I remember other combos, Aikman & E. Smith, Jordan and Pippen. I bought some of these too. I will try to find some of my Highland Mint order forms to see who else they paired up.

The sales emphasis (gimmick) on these issues was getting the coins with the same serial number. They also paired the silver, lower edition size, higher value. I sold the silver and bronze combos well back in the day.

I hope this helps.

Very helpful Steve. thanks. They are the same looking as the others but differ in some many ways i figured it had to be another set of some sort. I did run into other combos of players on ebay when trying to figure it out. Thanks for the info.
