How many FAKE autos are on EBAY and what can we do to protect ourselves from buying fakes?

my suggestion is

1. Buy PSA/DNA certified autos

2. Buy from EBAY dealers that have a high feedback score and good track record.

3. Compare non certified autos with Certified autos.

Any other tips, and also what percentage of FAKES do you think are on EBAY. i read somewhere that 70% of all autos on ebay are FAKE! YIKES!

true, ive read that myself, however, i think as a perspective buyer, id rathe rhave something psa/dna certified versus not certified at all. psa does have its problems, (i think it might be attributed to just the sheer volume of autos they look at daily) but i think with something psa/dna certified its a good chance that its probably 90-95% authentic. im starting to stay away from non certified stuff on the bay ever since i saw a eddie murray auto on there that looked like my 3 yr old nephew signed!(it was that bad) it was even remotely close to how eddie murray signs and yet people were bidding on it. not me, i stayed far far away from it as it just screamed FAKE! I for sure now stay away from GAI and JSA stuff, but PSA i still buy... your thoughts please on this, thanks

true, the only real way to tell is get one in person, but since i really dont know pujols, jeter, darvish,fielder personally and since i dont have many opportunities to do ip autographing)such as events, and stadiums) my only choice is EBAY! And since EBAY is my only choice (and maybe the only choice for others) I think those are pretty decent solutions to increase your chance of getting an authentic auto, but unless you actually hand the player an item and watch them sign in, then of course you dont really know its 100%. how many uncertified autos on ebay do you think are not real? thanks for your response.

-PSA/DNA sometimes doesn't pass authentic autos and passes fakes, autopens, etc.

2. Buy from EBAY dealers that have a high feedback score and good track record.
-This helps most of the time.

3. Compare non certified autos with Certified autos.
-Certified/Non Certified autos are always going to be different based on mood, pen, pen slant, angles, walking, sitting, height, etc.

Personally as an eBay seller I would never put myself or my family in harms way just to make a few $$'s. Not worth going to jail for.

I'd agree with the last 2 tips, I'm just not sold on any third party authenticator. Between the copies getting slabbed as originals, fakes getting slabbed, others coming back they don't feel comfortable slabbing that may well be legit, I'm not willing to pay any premium for them. If they can't get a Ty Cobb right, what chance do they have with Mike Miley? Heck, even the card companies screw up, there is a Ray Dandrige UD cut out there that reads Henrietta Dandridge as clear as you can read this. "Do your own homework" is always the best advice, followed closely by if "it seems too good to be true, it is"
