because it seem that all i'm doing this month is catching grief from ****** ebayers....

listed about 100 items on tuesday two weeks ago on the free listing day...most went smoothly....but there was ONE buyer who still hadnt paid as of this morning , 8 days after the item ended....wasn't really too alarmed though as it was just a small 99-cent sale....now comes the fun part....

the ebay notice listed the buyer's shipping address as NEW JERSEY....i've heard rumors to the contrary , but i'm still pretty sure that's in the US , right ??? ANYway , based on that i sent an invoice that reflected my domestic shipping rates...

well , when ebay did the automatic unpaid item case on day 8 while i was at work today , it prompted the buyer to pay right away....i get home and i see the item marked as paid so i'm pleased until i see the transaction TOTAL listed as 99 cents...no shipping included....so i go check the transaction and now instead of a new jersey address , the shipping address is an unconfirmed address in TAIWAN.....

i do ship worldwide , but i also require that my international buyers contact me BEFORE paying so i can get an accurate shipping rate based upon their location and charge them accordingly....

i just don't get it..more ebay headaches in the past 30 DAYS than in the previous 10 YEARS.....

i HAVE refunded the incorrect payment and i HAVE written the buyer telling him why and what the actual charge would be to ship to his location....now i'm playing the waiting game and hoping he just chooses to cancel the transaction....just doesnt seem worth the headache...

Wow that is pretty bad. I would never, ever ship to an unconfirmed address, even if he pays you the correct amount. I don't know what ebay has to say about shipping to unconfirmed addresses though, they may discourage it also.

i dont really have an issue with the confirmed/unconfirmed address NEARLY as much as i do having the shipping address changed from domestic to international AFTER the item ended and the invoice was sent....and that's ALMOST as bad as his paying ONLY the bid with NO shipping included - honestly , im not even sure how he was able to do that since i sent an invoice with shipping including and my invoices are not editable by the buyers....

Yea that's pretty strange. I'd request the transaction to be cancelled.

tried that already , BUT that reveals what i feel is a major flaw in one of ebay's fairly new features put in to make things easier....

as you may know , a little while back ebay streamlined the process for opening unpaid item cases ....by default , on the 8th day after the sale , ebay automatically opens the case for the seller....because ebay had already opened a case and the seller subsequently sent a payment (albeit an incorrect amount) , the case was automatically CLOSED.....to request the transaction be canceled , you must open a case....sadly , each item can only have ONE case...once it's been closed , there is nothing more that can be done....so in my situation , because the buyer waited 8 days to pay , i can't open a case to request we void the deal.....

that said , my last call to ebay last night was SLIGHTLY more helpful....they recommended i refund the money (which i'd already done) and simply WAIT....the rep i dealt with simply said there was nothing more i could do on my end and that if the buyer posted negative or neutral feedback i just needed to call back and it would be removed....

Did the rep say how it was possible that they didn't pay shipping?

she didnt know , but i offered a theory which she said seemed likely....

the original address provided by ebay was domestic , so when i sent my invoice , the only option for shipping service was us first class .....

by the time they paid , their address was international (and now shows as such on the ebay records) but the invoice had no option for international shipping ....we can only surmise that the shipping choice and it's accompanying rate field was left blank due to their address changing.....

I believe you can change that somewhere in your ebay preferences

i never said that couldnt be changed.....but it's also irrelevant since i would have opened the case myself manually that same morning before work if i didnt have mine set to do it automatically.......
