hey guys,
thank you all for your responses, i appreciate it. i was extra lucky/glad to get his bowman draft rc as an auto.

it set me back alot of my great cards. i gave up the following for it:
ryan braun auto rc
brian wilson auto rc
carlos santana auto rc
josh hamilton auto rc
jaime garcia auto rc
mark teixeira auto rc
starlin castro auto rc
miguel cabrera gu auto
elvis andrus auto rc

so, alot to give up for it, but i figured i got rid of all these players when they are hot(so, basically bought low, sold high) and if i really wanted these players again, ill wait until they slump and then pick up their autos for super cheap again. i also figured an ichiro auto rc comes around once in a lifetime, he is a virtual lock for 3,000 hits and the HOF and his autograph value is only going to go up while the autos i had to give up for him, will probably go back down when these players are no longer hot or wanted. so i think i got a good deal out of this! at least in my opinion.

I think your reasoning is sound, and Ichiro will likely disappear back to Japan when he retires like many of the other Japanese players seen to do. He is a lock now for the HOF, no doubt. 3000 hits is more of a maybe. He can probably do it, if he really wants it. Players have hung on longer for less. I hate to say it, because 10 years, 10 consecutive 200+ hit seasons is insane! However, time is not on his side. He is 37 now and will need 4 more seasons MINIMUM to get it done. He needed 756 at the beginning of the year, just under 200 per year for 4 years. That means he is rapping 200+ hits as a 40 year old? Maybe...but not likely.

Depending on what specific cards you gave up and how those players do in their careers will decide if the deal was a wise one in the end. I'm guessing most will not pan out to greatness. Ichiro will go down in history as one of the greatest hitters the game ever saw. I think a certified, manufacturer auto would have made it a no brainer regardless of what you gave up. The after market certified RC is sill nice, but won't hold it's value as much as a pack pulled auto will, I would guess.

Wow, take a look at how many Ichiro autos MillCreeksports has listed - 93 of them - http://shop.ebay.com/millcreeksport...&_odkw=&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3911.c0.m270.l1313 . And they have some with serial numbers right next to yours, so either you got it from him, or from someone who got it from him. How does a guy get that many to get slabbed? They must hit Ichiro up all the time. Does he sign much at games and such?

I have a buddy who goes to a few games. He said that Ichiro will sign. I never got him, but my buddy has a few from him

Mill Creek is North of Seattle and often conduct signings at their shop, usually popular players and always expensive! It stands to reason they were probably able to arrange one or several signings with Ichiro locally.
