If your favorite player on your favorite tem was traded, would you still collect him?

I'm guessing most people who collect players do so because of their passion for the player. Maybe some started that passion because they were a home town hero, maybe others because the player stood out. I know that when Garvey went to the Padres, I started following the Padres a lot closer and was introduced to some great young talent like Carlos Baerga (minors), Alomars, Kruk, Bip Roberts, Dravecky, Hawkins, etc as well as some stars then and later like Gwynn, Carter, Sheffield, etc. I still liked the Dodgers, but not as much. When he retired, I got over my issue with the Dodgers and kinda let the Padres slide into history.

A change of teams helps me to control my collection - it gives me a stopping point so that I can focus on just issues of that player in that uniform.

It depends on the situation:

Rusty Greer - never played anywhere else and injuries shortened his career making collecting him manageable.

Jake Reed - went to the Saints and it made a good stopping point. Plenty of super sweet 90's cards to collect.

Robb Thomas - three teams, but hardly had any issues. Easy to collect.

Clyde Drexler - went to the Rockets just as the 90's started to spin out of control. Seeing him in a Rockets uni is blasphemous. Easy to collect just Blazers issues and now fun to see retro Blazers stuff coming out in new product.
