Just wanted to show off my modest Mickey Mantle collection. Don't have the budget for the high end stuff so I stick to the "well loved" items. This is the focus of my collection going forward, along with Nolan Ryan and a few trade bait threads here and there. Feels good to start trying to pick up some stuff again, had to go into sell mode there for a while due to some things. Anyway, here is what I have so far.[/QUOTE=timfsu2k;3308805]

I had to sell off a good chunk of my Ripkens awhile back to make some quick money and it sucked. At least I/yuo had the cards to sell !

And I agree about the condition/memories aspect others have mentioned. A couple of my favorite "cards" are wacky packages from the early 70's. One of my "friends" stole some of them from me so I told my dad about it (in 2nd grade, 1972, he gave me 25 cents every friday so I could buy five packs of wackys on the way home from school). He works out a deal with the other parent where my "friend" has to return them. Unfortunately, my "friend" had already stuck them on stuff and didn't have any new ones to give me. So what does he do ? Peels them off and slaps them back on the wax paper they came on. No borders, nicked up, crooked, creases, etc, etc, my dad says "that's cool, he returned them". LOL

The memories conjured up every time I see those cards are priceless !!!!

Ha! Great story there! I remember finding an old desk that I had when I was little and stuck on the top was an '87-'88 Fleer Charles Barkley sticker. I'm sure that was not the only card from that set, probably an MJ or two in my toy box...
