I spoke to my local card shop today and discussed the possibility of Julio Cruz doing a private signing. He stops by the shop from time to time and has even signed at the shop before. I told the owner that I would spread the word on this site to see if there was enough interest to warrant doing it. Obviously we'd need to clear it with Mr. Cruz first, but it sounds like that may just be a formality.

I offered to handle the TTM items and I am not looking to charge anything for my time. I'd like to see this player earn a little money and put autographs into the hands of those who might otherwise not have a chance. If I got to meet and hang with a former Mariner for a little while, bonus! I would receive and send out orders, but I would want participants to send their items with a SASE so that I am not living at the PO for this either.

I am thinking that I'd like to try to keep the price down to the $5/item range (or less, if possible) for normal flats (8x10 or smaller) and small items (balls). Anything larger that would require special handling (jerseys, bats, large books, etc) would need to be cleared first. In order to make this happen, I need to have a fair amount of interest. The overall price will depend on the number of items and the fee for Mr. Cruz to sign.

Anyway, I am just trying to judge if there is enough interest to get this thing planned at $5 per auto before I move forward. If you need/want Julio Cruz, former Seattle Mariner and Chicago White Sox (1977-1986), let me know and how many items you'd be interested in, if more than one. If it looks like it would work, I'd discuss this with the store owner and Cruz and once it's approved, I can start taking orders. I am not a site nomad, so this is really the only site I spend time at, so I won't be advertising this anywhere else, but if you know of someone on another site who might be interested for a set or theme, feel free to mention it.

I know you're still in the planning stages, and the what if stages, but I would be interested in one maybe two.

I'd probably do anywhere from 1-4 depending on what I have in my misc boxes for him to sign and my discretionary cash at the time this would come about cash

Passing this around again and maybe a few more times to give everyone a chance to see it. I don't think I have enough interest to pull the trigger yet, so if you know of anyone building a set between 1978-1987 who might need Cruz or was/is a Mariners or White Sox collector, let me know.

I don't frequent other sites, just don't have the time to keep track. If you have any buddies on other sites, send them here! I'd really like to get this lined up and keep it affordable for all! Neither me, nor the shop with the connection is making a cent, nor do we want to. This is all for Cruz and the fans.

Otherwise you can wait for the collectors friend to charge you $10-20+ for one perhaps...

Giving this another go or two before I call it. At this point, if everyone who posted actually purchased the max number they said they might, I think we are still well short of getting this to happen.

I figure I need to get a commitment of around 40-50 items before this can be a reality. I have not been back to the store to discuss this yet, but I will ask the next time I am there.

If anyone else out there needs/wants a Julio Cruz signature on anything, speak up now...

Thanks.

I may be able to revive this opportunity. I spoke with the shop owner and he may be chipping in some money to have Cruz appear at the store as well, since we don't have enough interest here alone to make this happen. Any newcomers want any Cruz autographs? Any additional interest will hopefully help this become a reality.

If I don't have any further new interest, my next step is to see who of the previous posters is serious about purchasing a signature (or multiples) and will commit to paying. If we have enough to move forward, then I will fill orders.

Reminder: This would be a prepaid signing, meaning you commit to the order and pay for it. I will then hold the signing, fill the orders and send back the items.
