Good gravy! I have a stack of 300 1989 Topps Matt Williams cards if you'd like to trade for that. Just let me know :)

Very nice collection, I'm jealous!

Honest assessment: I'd rate it an average selection with some very nice individual pieces. I didn't see any exceptionally tough players in there. You appear to have most, if not all, of the "easy" HOFers, but nobody monumental.

Start adding some of the tougher guys and the collection will begin to impress further.

Some nice stuff, seeing extras of some of those ***** League players makes me a bit jealous:)

Don't think Raines will ever make it to the HOF though in my opinion.

here are examples of guys you need to start adding

lol @ Droubay, i figured you'd pull out some of the older ones you have.

i took a peek a few days ago at your collection bam, and it is very nice, but like a few members have said, now is the time to add the more difficult autos. that will make your collection A1!!

i was going to mention taking a look at droubays collection, he's got quite a few of the older sigs, and meliah has a ton of the ***** leaguers.

combine all three of you and that would be one very extensive and expensive collection :)

chaplain11 has a pretty crazy HOF collection as well.

I am holding at 168 different HOF member autographs (Through all 2012 inductees) and figure with the exception of a few select singles that I just have not landed at the right price, I am probably done except for the easier ones that will make the HOF in the coming years. Long dead pioneers, executives and such that pop up (like Billy Southworth and a gaggle of ***** Leaguers a few years back) will always catch the less serious HOF auto collectors off guard. I have been trying to grab guys on the ballots, but not yet elected as well. It can be a cheaper way to add some potentials and even if they don't make it, just being honors on the ballot is reason enough!

Take the 2012 Veterans ballot. I had all but Bavasi and jumped by one, just by being ready!

Ron Santo
Jim Kaat
Gil Hodges
Minnie Miñoso
Tony Oliva
Buzzie Bavasi
Ken Boyer
Charlie Finley
Allie Reynolds
Luis Tiant

If the rest make it some day, only Bavasi will catch me and I will continue to look for him, as he is a prominent Dodger figure as well.

I did the same the year before, with the 2011 Veterans ballot. Although Gillick caught me off guard, he lives in Seattle and was a fast, gracious TTM signer. I have the rest already:

Pat Gillick
Marvin Miller
Dave Concepción
Vida Blue
Steve Garvey
Ron Guidry
Tommy John
Billy Martin
Al Oliver
Ted Simmons
Rusty Staub
George Steinbrenner

Lastly, if you collect HOF autos and don't have every player on the writers HOF ballots each year, even the new guys who are added, then you are certainly going to pay for it later. Just about every player, even those who have no chance at the Hall, had long, decent careers and are worthy of being added to any autograph collection.

I'd have to agree with Mopar.. I have plenty alreday picked up with a chance (Hodges being an example) that if they get in I am good and as long as I can afford them i pick them up. My thing is that I also pick up duplicates when I can afford them or unique signed items.I am not too far behind Mopar in count only due to selling some items a couple summers ago

You do have some nice individual pieces. I love the 05 Baseball Heroes cards - on of my all-time favorites. I really enjoy the UD Heroes (Aaron, Jackson, etc) cards, always have. The 75 Topps Ryan is also really nice as well as the Killebrew vintage and Murray rookie! It also looks as if you cornered the market on Griffey, jr signed rookies ;)

Matt and Paul - I have a decent HoF collection but am missing a lot of the harder to get guys as well. I would love to add a Herb Pennock, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Tris Speaker or Mel Ott this year.

If you want to move some of the Heroes autos for comparable autos let me know.

Thanks for sharing,
Dewayne

thanks guys for your responses, i appreciate them all. I just had hundreds more hof autos this afternoon, to include some harder to get players. Now that I am done with phase 1 of this collection(the "easy" guys) i am now starting on phase 2(the harder to get guys) so check back often for updates as i add players!

I may have ot start a hawaain bam bam show your HOF stuff thread. Especially as I am working on an on card auto project

The tough thing is I do Football too so theres a ton to hunt
