I received a 2000 Fleer Tradition Sammy Sosa in a bulk trade. The number on the back is 1. It has been suggested to me that it is a Cubs SGA card which I don't doubt but don't know what year it is from. I checked on line for Cubs SGA's, Sosa master card checklist and Cubs promo's but came up blank. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

I looked around and can't find anything Fleer Tradition #1 for Sosa either. Have you looked on eBay for a picture?

Thanks
Craig

I have and all I saw was one for the #374. One reason I tend to agree with the person who said it was an SGA is the back is white versus gray for both the regular and glossy 2000 Fleer Tradition.
Thanks for looking for me.

I am not sure but it may be from the 2000 Fleer twizzlers set. I can check my SCD when I get home. There were also Fleer cards issued with a kite around that time so it might be from that set also. I have the maddux from the kite set but have not ever seen it listed in SCD.

Hi -

Perhaps it is this card?

2000 Cubs Sosa Commemorative #1 Sammy Sosa - $10.00

"This one-card set was given away at a 2000 Cubs game to celebrate Sammy Sosa hitting more than 60 homers in both the 1998 and 1999 season. The front shows Sosa about to step into his home run "hop" while the horizontal back has information about Sosa as well as his 1999 and career stats."

I couldn't find a picture though.

mm1sub - I have the 2000 Twizzlers and it is no 8, I believe.

Scobes - I was hoping it was some sort of commemorative card - problem is this one is exactly like the 2000 Fleer Tradition except it is numbered 1 and the back is white, not gray.

Thanks to you both for your suggestions. I appreciate that.

Could it be this one?

2000 Fleer Japan Sheet #1 Sammy Sosa/Mike Piazza/Chipper Jones/Ivan Rodri guez - $5.00

"This sheet featured eight of the leading players in baseball. The cards feature the design of the Fleer 2000 set. These sheets were given away at the 2000 season-opening series between the Mets and Cubs in Japan."

Here is an Ebay listing: Sosa is card #1 with a white back.

Scobes,

I do believe you nailed it on the head. Thanks!! I do appreciate your help.

Jim

BTW, do you need any Carlton or Schmidt cards? I also have a Dale Murphy in a Phillie uni and a 97 Zenith Duflex 8x10 Clemens 12/24. I can send a list of the Carlton and Schmidt if you like. I am clearing out the last of my non Cub cards and these are all going away.

That is the one nice thing about this site, I can normally get a mystery card solved - still have one outstanding and maybe will re-post.

Jim -

Sure, send over a list - I may need a few of them. Thanks!
