Hello everyone,

I'm fairly new to the Football and Baseball card collection hobby. I usually buy cards of players I like or that look cool. I've been trying to get a nice Joe Flaco card because I am a big Ravens fan. I was outbid on a /25 auto patch Panini National Treasures card the other day (It went for 50$ I had bid 40$) that's why I recently bought a Joe Flacco 2010 Plates & Patches Printing Plates Jersey Tag Auto 1/1 High BGS 9 card for 140$ as soon as I saw it posted. I'm new to the hobby and don't know what I bought it was an impulse buy. Given that that other signed Joe Flaco card only went for 50$ and I spent 140$ did I spend too much? And what exactly is the print place card. Thanks for the help. I enjoy learning about the hobby.

As long as you are happy with it, that’s all that matters. We all have overpaid for things that we’d want, just to ensure we have it. It is a 1:1 which means it can’t have a given price, it will always be worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Again, as long as you are happy and can afford the price, then it is fair. If you want to resell later, maybe a little over paid, but if it is a keep forever I think it is a fair price.

Dashcol hit it on the nose. It's worth what someone pays. I would stick to what you said at the beginning... you collect players you like and stuff you find cool. Right now you're a little fish in a big lake. Have fun with it, and as your knowledge of the cards increases you can base your purchases on reasoning instead of on impulse. But we all have those moments still, unfortunately that won't go away. And on a card like the Flacco... I wouldn't stress. Sounds like it is a personal card that you wont be parting with so forget about the price!

A printing plate is used in the process of making cards........The image should look flipped or backwards .........The plates come in four colors: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black (or "K", which in the printing business isn't considered a color).......

Yeah, definitely a cool part of my collection. I a big Ravens, Orioles, and University of Tennessee fan so the idea is to slowly collect cool things from those three teams and then have three separate themed displays in my office. This Joe Flacco card is unique and cool and I already picked up a Dynasty Foundations Booklet card that has Cal Ripken, Brooks Robinson, Jim Palmer, Javy Lopez, and Tejada game worn patches in it which I thought was another sweet piece.
