Yes, I have been banned from cards of any sort by my mom. I really don't understand why. She says that they are a waste of time and effort and that I spend too much time with them. She says it is because my grades have dropped, but they have actually all stayed the same. (If you are wondering, I am carrying a 4.5 G.P.A. with all A's and a B+.) So anyone who was talking to me about a possible trade please be patient, I may never get a chance to complete that trade.

I don't blame her. The way my parents were when I was taking midterms starting in sixth grade, I lost everything until they saw the grades on the report card, and sometimes, I didn't get everything back... if you know what I mean. haha

You should pack up all of your cards and run away. That will show her! Just kidding ofcourse. Sometimes you may not understand why your parents do things, but it is usually for the better. It is amazing how you view things differently when you get a little older. Just trust the judgement of your parents and hang in there. Cards will always be here.

a 4.5 and you are being punished??? 4.0 is all A's last I knew so that would mean you average getting well over 100% in your classes, I'm hoping you meant 3.5 otherwise you got quite the parents

What else do you do with your spare time?? You might want to negotiate so many hours a week trading cards. Maybe cut back on TV or other non essentials. Just a thought.

A 4.5 is possible with advanced courses. Atleast it was in my HS. Each grade carried a 1 point higher "rating" as opposed to the regular class. So getting a "B" in an advnaced class counted as a 4, an "A" was a 5.

i guess you need to go out and party now, come home late at night, get in trouble--to me being older, collecting cards is my vice, if i didnt have that,i would go crazy and probably spend alot more at the bars and casinos(which i dont do now)

Amen! Helena has enough bars and casinos, thats for sure!

you should round up all your mom's bras and burn them in the back yard...

when she asks why just say "that's how I roll" and leave it at that.

stories like this make me fell very fortunate for the way my father supported my interest in the hobby. He knew that I had been buying a pack here and there, (80, and 81 topps). But when he came into my room one day and saw that I had them all on the floor and was putting them in team order, he decided that it was time for a trip to grandmas house where I was introduced to "the box" as it was later nicknamed. A rather large wooden ammo crate that was packed to the top with mostly 62-64 topps with a healthy smattering of a mixture of stuff both older and newer. I was allowed to pick a single card out that day for myself. card? 63 Topps #200 Mickey Mantle. Regardless of its actual condidtion. It will always be mint to me.

Hope you get a chance to be active in the hobby again someday. There will always be room for you.
