Open or Keep Factory Sets/ Booster Boxes? (90s Basketball)

Hey All,

I am new to the collecting scene, and recently acquired some sealed complete sets and booster pack boxes. Based on what I was reading online it was a bit of a toss up if I should open these up to see what I can get graded or if I should just leave them factory sealed. If it makes any difference these are the boxes I got:

• 96-97 Upper Deck NBA Factory Complete Set
• 97-98 Topps NBA Basketball Complete Set
• 97-98 Topps NBA Basketball Booster Box
• 97-98 Upper Deck NBA Basketball Booster Box

Is the 96-97 set the Collectors Choice set with Andernee Hardaway on the box? I remember that as I bought that from Target way back in 1996 when it first came out. That set will have a Kobe base RC.

Personally I dont do grading. On EBAY, the 2 sealed factory complete sets are going for anywhere between $200-$250 each.

I am not familiar with the booster boxes.

Yea that is the set. I guess I should even be asking the question is grading worth it in general. It feels like that is all everyone talks about now vs when I was a kid and you just opened packs and put them in a binder. I wish I had that binder still haha

I would just sell them and get as much money as you can. Dont bother with grading since its a lower end product. Even if it grades a 10, after selling fees, how much grading cost, you prob going to end up just a few dollars more than selling the sealed set.

Keep them sealed.......Those years are bad about sticking together in brick like form.......
