I didn't know a .213 hitter would make it
Maybe because he's a pre steroid player.
Auction on eBay has him as a HOF

while it's true that pafko is not in the hall of fame , to simply dismiss him as "a .213 hitter" does not only him , but also you an injustice....over a 17-year major league career , andy hit .285 with 1796 hits , 264 doubles , 62 triples , 213 hrs and 976 rbis...he was a 4-time all star and received votes in the mvp balloting on 4 separate occasions....maybe not HOF material , but definitely a nice career....

as for why the seller refers to him as a hall of famer , i can only speculate that he made an erroneous assumption of the PLAYER VALUE when he saw the CARD VALUE.....

Common mistake from those who don't know or don't take the time to research what they are selling.

Steve Garvey is often listed as a HOFer in listings as well to name another. He was on the way in the pinnacle of his career and just fell short by the end.

1952 Topps Mantle Rookie. How many times do you see and hear that one? The media often reports on this historic "rookie" card.

I agree though that Pafko had a decent career and being #1 in that historic Topps set has certainly earned him a place in the baseball card HOF, if one were to ever exist.

It's eBay, words don't mean the same things there as they do in the real world.

I didn't mean any disrespect to you cmcjr99 or Mr. Pafko, I just ran across the ebay listing and thought it was another person trying to make money with false advertisement on cards again

I grew up in Milwaukee when Pafko was playing. His catches in center field are still the most amazing catches I've ever seen. It just appeared impossible that anyone could contort their body the way he could and not break a bone.
He was a very good player and his famous card was routinely rubber banded with his on top.

I know
