I learned today that Forrest "Spook" Jacobs and John "Buddy" Lewis both died Feb 18th.
I ended up winning something from ebay and it turned out to be Jacobs. He sent me a number of articles and such about him with my item. He seemed like a really nice man. He was selling off his collection as the description indicated, but then he disappeared from ebay several months ago and I suspected he may have been ill.
Lewis was a pretty good player who lost his prime to WWII. He was a career .300 hitter with a couple 190+ hit seasons and a 200+ hit season when he left baseball for the war with the Army.
