Hello all, first post. I collected a lot when I was younger (from late 80s to early 2000s). My son recently told me that some might be worth submitting for grading. Looking for others opinions.

1984 Topps John Elway
1986 Topps Jerry Rice
1989 Score Barry Sanders
1989 Fleer Billy Ripken FF
1998 Bowman Randy Moss Auto
1998 Topps Stars Peyton Manning Gold/Silver
2000 Tom Brady Fleer Autographics

I know some corners aren’t the sharpest but would I get decent grades for any of these?

I have a ton more to go through but these were a few that I found so far.

Thanks!

I would absolutely grade the two autos. The older cards have clear flaws like dinged corners or bad centering. But those 2 autos look great and the Brady especially should be authenticated and slabbed.
Good luck with the grades!

It is going to cost a ton to grade that brady with psa. They upcharge based on the final ‘grade value’. If it got a 10 you could be forced to pay over 1k to get it. It would likely be worthwhile due to the value but it’s amusing they upcharge based on the value they add.
Also, it may take weeks even at the fastest most expensive grading tiers. Cheap grading submission can take over a year easily

Great cards and like the others have said you should do the 2 autos, to at the very least preserve them and keep them from getting damaged in the future

You might look into hga grading. Theyre a new company, but they use computer technology to grade instead of eyeballing cards, and theyre actually pretty strict.

They also color coordinate their labels to the card, they have solid turn around times and theyre not that expensive.

If I were to try fgading something, I think id go with hga.

Grade with PSA. Find a sub group you like or ask for recommendations - Marx Cards for example - and send that Brady at the $300 level. SHould take more than 2 weeks to get your card back, based on what I've seen online.
PSA Is the most expensive but it's an investment in your card. For resale value it's worth it.

Thank you for the insight. My dad reminded me that we tried to get the Randy Moss graded years and years ago and it was sent back without a grade (see attached image). Wonder if they even could grade it?

Do you have pics of the backs? The 2000 Fleer autos are notorious for chipping on the back edges.

You're also going to wait probably close to a year to get your cards back unless you pay the premium prices.

I do have a photo of the back for the Brady (see attached).
