Wow! That is avery nice item!! Glad to see a player who obviously appreciates the fans.

You previous post had me wondering what happened to him since he started out so well and then became rather obscure. He suffered an elbow injury in 1968 which forced him to change his throwing motion and his production fell off. That is really too bad.

On a brighter note he turns 89 on October 28th. Nice to see he is still around since so many of his peers have passed in recent years.!

Veale was an excellent pitcher through the 60s. Along with Bob Friend and Vern Law, those Pirates had a pretty good staff. I remember Veale because of his glasses. Not very many players wore glasses.

Are you getting this card graded? From the looks of it, I think I would. THere looks to be a slight flaw near the top left corner but if this card were a woman........oh never mind. You know the line about eating crackers. LMAO!

And as an added bonus Lilly didn't get flagged despite there being a few seconds left in the game! Awesome!

Will lightning strike twice for the Cowboys? No one knows but it is known that Mazi Smith will never come close to Bob Lilly's record in the helmet throw!

When I looked at that list the 2 blowouts in 1970 really stood out to me. I had to double check that and sure enough the Cowboys went to the ir first Super Bowl that year despite those two beatings. I never would have guessed that occured to that 1970 team!

I really remember that beating the Cowboys took in 1985 against the Bears. I even remember the cover about that game in Sports Illustrated!
