If anyone's interested, I've started my box breaks for the pile of Japanese boxes I picked up from Yahoo! Auction Japan just after Christmas. I'm starting with the 2000 Epoch Pro-Baseball stickers which are very similar to 1988 Panini but for Nippon Pro Baseball. My whole reason for picking up this box was to get the two Tuffy Rhodes stickers that are in the set. While I haven't finished posting all the results yet, out of 300 stickers, (shades of 1993 Lime Rock Dominican Winter Baseball and my futile search for the Bernie Brito Diamond Star insert) NOT ONE was a Tuffy Rhodes! Since I didn't get the stickers I was looking for, everything else is up for trade/sale.

I'd post some examples, but IMG code never shows pictures when I use it and HTML is disabled here.

The break can be found here:

Interested in one of the American players as a type card. Saw a Tony Fernandez in there. I think this was well past his days, but if you come across any Warren Cromartie stuff from Japan, I would be interested in that.

I finally found a decent site for singles, Mitchael Trading. Here's what they have for Cromartie:

http://mitchael-trading.com/kekka.h...d=Cromartie&in_submit=search&submitbtn=Search

I like the 4th card down....you can just hear someone singing "Oh what a feeling!" in the background.

Currently the exchange rate is $1US = ¥92.

They've got a bunch of Tuffy Rhodes cards I plan to pick up, so we might see if we can work something out on a single order to keep the fees down. Let me know!

Man, Roberto Petigini....I remember when he played double A ball here in MS when I was younger for the Jackson Generals and it was so funny to hear the announcer take almost a whole minute to really embellish his name when he came up. I can still hear it today :)

Thanks for the link. Not into Cromartie that much though to shell out $5-6 bucks for singles in the late 80s! Too bad this person is so high on singles of players who aren't exactly household names. Perhaps these cards are unique enough outside Japan to warrant the high prices, but still! Maybe if Garvey had a japanese card...

Well, he was a household name in Japan in the 80s, so it's a matter of perspective, and his 1987 Calbee cards book for around $15 a pop in NM (at least according to Gary Engel's price guide, but he always skews very high on non-Japanese players). Plus, back then, there was no regular pack-issued set being produced. Calbee cards are fairly difficult to find in great condition as they were only distributed one at a time with bags of potato chips. From 1973-1990, Calbee was the only yearly producer of baseball cards.

But I completely understand. If you're not a rabid Cromatie collector, $5-6 per card would be steep.

There is a card of Jeff Barry, if it's the same Barry that played for the Marlins, I'll trade for it.

Here is his bio, can you compare it with the card you have?

Born: September 22, 1969 in Medford, OR
High School: South (Medford, OR)
School: San Diego State University
Drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 4th round of the 1990 amateur draft.
Signed June 5, 1990. (All Transactions)
Debut: June 9, 1995
Final Game: October 3, 1999

Looks like it's the same guy, I found this line in the transactions on his Baseball Reference page:

December 20, 1999: Purchased by Chiba Lotte Marines (Japan Pacific) from the Colorado Rockies.

I don't know why The Baseball Cube and Baseball Reference are so inconsistent with their Japanese data.

Do you have:

anything from any of my wantlists
any random card if Ichiro
a few 1989 Donruss #547 Hensley Meulens cards?

That works for me.

I just finished scanning the rest of the cards today, so the rest of the packs are still coming. To see all of them, I've already got the gallery up at my Picasa album:

There are a few more foreigners in there.

I need nigel wilson 77 also. I have one of those Meulens 89 donruss and a few of the '90 and '91 issues. I could also look foranother Ichiro card.

Who was it that had asked me about a Micah Franklin sticker from this set? I just picked up three more boxes of these and managed to snag the Tuffy (actually half-way through the box and I already have two), but I also got the Franklin (the regular one, not the Leading Player insert).
