Supercollector Newsletter Issue 2 with free Classified Ads

The Supercollector Catalog started out as a project to indentify and catalog all the unlicensed issues put out in the late 80s and early 90s including what are commonly referred to as “Broder” cards as well as magazine inserts. The catalog has since expanded to include other oddball sets, food issues and regional sets, as well as variations, game cards, and cameos. A recent collector sent me this email after seeing the catalog:

WOW. This has got to be the coolest thing I have ever seen. It will be the weekend before I get the opportunity to really get into this, but I am already amazed. I didn't get serious about oddballs until about two years ago and I searched all over looking for this kind of information. Nothing I found then, or have seen now, can hold a candle to your site. I would have paid good money to have this information at my fingertips...I still would. Thank you again for allowing me access to this database.

The site that the collector mentions is a google docs site where I publish the data. The online catalog is a work in progress. Rather than limiting the data to only fully checklisted sets with front/back scans, the online catalog includes partial sets and some sets that do not have scans added yet. Currently, the catalog contains over 44,000 records (see the end of the post for some sample sets). The database allows you to filter on player, team, year, type (Broder, Magazine Insert, Other, Cameo, Variation), and country.

Supercollector Quarterly is a newsletter that highlights different sets checklisted in the catalog and will also have various features of interest to collectors.

Yes, I was surprised how great it looks. The text is easily readable and the pics really stand out. Plus, the zoom is nice for seeing smaller details on the backs of the cards.
