Ive seen this asked here before in the past, when it comes to collecting your favorite teams autos, do you care if the player is in your favorite teams uniform or any uniform, i ask because for la dodger pitcher john desilva, for example, only played one year , if that with the dodgers in the early 1990s' so he doesnt have any issued dodgers cards, only one from his previous team the Detroit tigers. over the years i found exactly one john desilva auto on ebay, but balked at buying it because its not a dodgers uniform, well, today i bought it because with past history of some players that are lesser names, you might never see an auto card of a player at all..so i bought it because he was still a "dodger". do you guys collect all players from your team like this even if they are in a different teams uniform, some guys are almost impossible to find in a dodgers uniform. let me know your thoughts, thanks

I don't like to pick up other uniform autos but I will settle for a signed team/logo card if one is available.

If the deal is right I'll take it. There are players I'd prefer in certain uniforms, but as you pointed out, some may just not be available that way or exceedingly difficult/expensive. I tend to grab what I can now, and if I find an opportunity to upgrade later, wonderful. Just like you mentioned, I'd rather have an auto than no auto.

Personally I don't care if the player is in my favorite team's uniform or any uniform. A good example is Matt Williams....he's my favorite Giant. I have a decent collection of his cards in Giant, Indian, and Dback uniforms and autographs of him in Giants and Dbacks cards.

It would depend on your preference and what player you collect.
Example: If you collected Kenny Lofton, you would not limit your collection to one uni.
I collect Mark Grace in both Cub and Diamonback uniforms.
That is because I live in the Phoenix area and have a connection. He also does the color commentary for the Diamondbacks.

Team uni only (for my team collection).....except.....I'll take any Angel.....past or present, as a Rookie, no matter the uni.

My sentiments exactly. I picked up an Adrian Gonzalez auto as soon as I could after he was traded to Boston because I wanted to add him. The card is in a Texas uni. I will look for a Sox one later as they become available. Havent had a shot at a Carl Crawford but I will do the same with him if I do get a shot.

Thanks,

Jeff

If it is a card or photo they are all in A's uni. I do have a pretty good collection of non-team affiated signed stuff, like index cards and baseball.

It is very difficult to find items for those players who only played a short time on the A's and had not cards issued, but so far I haven't broken down to get an item out of uniform.

For me, it's a card in the team uniform first. Then I might pick up a photo or some other team item. I will chase cards in other team uniforms as well as photos and 3x5s too. In the end, I just want the signature...but prefer it to be pictured in a Dodgers uniform.

A nice example would be Dick "Turk" Farrell. Finding his signature is tough to begin with, let alone landing a Dodger theme item. I believe his only Dodger card issued when he was alive is a 61 Topps (which actually shows him as a Philly, but says Dodgers on the card), which would be awesome for me as I also love that set signed, but I opted for a 3x5 and would try for the 61 if it ever appeared. The 62 Topps actually features him in a Dodger uni (w/o the cap), but he was noted as being a Colt 45 on that card. That would be a nice one for me as well.
